Hello

currently busy with converting a Airfix 1/32 1910 "b" type bus into a WW1 British mobile pigeon loft.

I know it's been done before but when I saw pictures of this vehicle and got hold of a model of the airfix kit I had to try it.

It's far from finished but starting to look like something.
I've used some aftermarket sets from Scale link ,and also the figures are from Scale Link
There is still one thing that really bothers me .........making pigeons !

[linked image]
this is what it should look like

[linked image]

[linked image]
this is how it looks like so far

As i can find no pictures and/or documentation of the interior of the truck ,I made it up with help from some guys from the Twenot site
http://www.twenot-forums.nl/viewtopic.php?t=20126 (in dutch )

If anyone has any suggestion or comment please feel free to post
I can use all the help I could get.

greetz
Ronald

Hi Ronald: It looks like your doing a fine job so far. I would like to kit-bash or if needed scratch build W.W.1 non armour vehicles and the pigeon loft bus, is on my list. Please keep us updated and take a lot of pictures.
THANKS,
Chris Anderson

I gotta comment...

October 10 2009, 2:20 AM

it looks great! I'm so jealous. I've been contemplating this for years too, but haven't gotten off my duff to do it. I might have some info on this but I'm not sure of the interior. Lemme check...

Hello James,

Just buy a Airfix kit on Ebay and start with it, that's what I did.
At first I intended to build a british WW1 trooptransporter bus ,until I spotted a picture of this Pigeon loft bus. ( maybe if I can buy an other Airfix kit, I will build this too(?)...)
The interieur I made up myself with help from a "Pigeon Loft" model from Karen Rychlewski

There is a lot of stuff/equipment going to be added as soon as the paintwork has been done.

Pigeon bus pic

October 10 2009, 5:08 AM

I found this photo but I don't know if it is a replica or a restoration of the real thing. Unfortunately I cannot even remember where I found it. Can anybody assist?

Cheers
Greg

Ronald,

Any chance that you could post those side-view pictures that you have. I also have the airfix kit and the pigeon loft is on my to-do list.

I had a look at the link to the other website that you posted. Is there an English tranlation by any chance?

Regards
Greg

Greg and Zisis

The picture from the side is already posted above in the original post,as far as I can see it's not exactly the same truck (the number is different)
I have some more pictures from other trucks which I have to scan first
If you like to see them I will gladly do that for you, but I don't know about the copyrights ? (they are from a magazin) maybe I could sent them per e mail

Your question about the mentioned site (Twenot)
It's a dutch site which is mostly in the dutch language and I don't know about an english translation.
But if you want specific info ,again I will gladly be of service. (again, maybe per e mail?)

The figures are from "Scale Link" a english based manufacturer
http://scalelink.co.uk/
(see catalogue: World war one /grand guerre, but be aware "worldwar 1" stuff is all 1/32 and white metal)

Novel build,...

October 15 2009, 6:52 AM

... I applaud your zeal. I have the bus also; mine dates back to the original white-plastic Airfix release. Your's appears to have been done in red plastic, or did you paint it that shade ?
