March '04...Hello Everyone

And welcome to my little corner of the web...
Before I get 'started' here's my history:

When I was 5 years old, I had blonde hair to my waist. However, I had a problem with pulling (ouch!) my hair out in one certain spot. I had a very large bald spot. Mom took me to the doctor and they said to cut my hair very short, so short I couldn't get a grip on it.
I was MAD. I had tried to grow my hair out for years (so Mom says) and when it finally got 'long', we had to cut it. Mom says she cried when they were cutting it.

So I had my short haircut for years until mom finally let me grow it out again. I've had hair below my shoulders since I was 8 or so.

Last year I had layered hair, about to my bra strap. I hated the layers, so I got it all chopped off to where my bangs were. (Right around shoulder length.) I loved it, and even considered keeping that length, but then I found the message boards and started growing it out again.

The last time I measured was in December, at 24.5 inches, BSL.

And they seem not to break; though once they are bowed
So low for so long, they never right themselves:
Years afterwards, trailing their leaves on the ground
Like girls on hands and knees that throw their hair
Before them over their heads to dry in the sun. --Robert Frost, "Birches"

Guess what I found out...

March 6 2004, 2:26 PM

I found out that no matter how much I sit and stare at the page...nothing happens. (LOL!)

There was something else I was going to say to make this on topic...but I forgot it.

Pictures....

The second time...
Last time...something happened.
Dad went on a business trip, and bought me this beautiful bobby pin with a clay flag on the end...

Here are the pics:

It burns!

March 7 2004, 8:27 AM

Anyone that wants to try the brown sugar scrub from 'Curly Girl' and doesn't have brown sugar:
Please Please PLEASE! don't use chili powder. It burns like the devil.

The last time I tried this scrub was last Tuesday. I used Cinnamon, Cinnamon and Brown Sugar (pre-mixed) and orange peels.
This time I used: Cinnamon, Chili Powder (OUCH!), Very little orange peels (a pain to rinse out), and onion powder. No, this did not smell good. I then mixed this mixture with Suave Coconut Conditioner. I use this conditioner to 'shampoo' my scalp because it leaves my hair squeaky.

Here was my process:
1) Mix together ingredients, combine with conditioner.
2) 'Shampoo' scalp with Suave Coconut Conditioner. (rinse)
3) Apply mixture to scalp. Scrub vigourosly (sp?).
4) Rinse like heck.
5) Apply Suave Coconut because it won't come off your scalp. Rinse.
6) Apply MORE SC because it STILL won't come out. Rinse, rinse, rinse.
7) Thank God because it did finally (mostly) come out.
8) C/O length with Daily Defense for fine/oily and V05 Strawberries and Creme.

Well...

March 7 2004, 1:49 PM

It feels better now. My roots are a little oily now, though. I'm going to blame that on the oil I applied first, though. Tomorrow, it will be the regular 'ol french Braid. And then Tuesday it will be a side part (on the right) and two braids with my bobby pin on the left. And Wed, Thu, and Fri, it will probably be a French braid. ::rolls eyes::

The 9th

March 9 2004, 2:59 PM

Gawsh I had a headache today. Heavy roots. Awful. I had my hair in a flip upwards, I did it with a topsy tail. Then I wetted it and scrunched it. It looked beautiful, if I do say so myself. I liked it, but I had to take it down in 3rd class because of the headache. So then I put it in a low braid and all was well. Tonight to aerobics I plan do wear my OTHER snood.

The 10th

March 10 2004, 11:17 AM

French Braid today. They have a lot of french braid pictures in a thread over at LHC.
This morning I was debating doing a Dutch Braid but I decided on the French. It's starting to fray now.

Wash Day

March 10 2004, 11:23 AM

I C/O'd last night with Suave Strawberries. Smelled goood. I thought that it would leave my hair squeaky like Suave Coconut does, because the ingredients are somewhat similar. However, it did not. It was very silky smooth when I combed through it while I was rinsing. And then when I toweled it off and combed it in my room it was not squeaky at all. I put it in a braid last night and this morning it was still wet when I put it in my FB.

The 11th & 12th, respectively

March 12 2004, 6:32 PM

I had to add the 'respectively' to the end.
Ok, so, yesterday, I believe I french braided my hair.
Yeah, I french braided it. Then later last night I C/O'd with Suave Strawberry. (YUM!) Today I parted my hair on the right and used my patriotic pin on the left side. Two braids, it was. Looked like a frizzy mess by the time I got home. Then I exercised. (Had to add that.)
My hair is very greasy now, even though I washed it yesterday. I walked a mile in ten minutes and worked up a really good sweat while I was doing it. Then I kept sweating and walking REALLY fast until 25 minutes into the workout, at which time I started walking slower. WHOO! I bet y'all cared...
Tomorrow I'm going to follow Leia's dry scalp recipe. Except I'm going to CWC and for the last C i'm going to use Henna N' Placenta for deep conditioning.
Right. Now I have to go braid my sister's hair.

13th & Pics

March 13 2004, 12:23 PM

Today I applied oil to the scalp area, then CWC'd with Suave Strawberry and Biolage. My last 'C' was Hask Henna N' Placenta. Man I love this stuff. My hair's still drying and although there's a slight increase in tangles (blame it on the shampoo), it is so silky, and smooth, and just all around beautiful. If I do say so myself, that is.
So I was out in the sun walking home from my neighbors, and I noticed how my hair shows in my shadow. I grabbed the digital camera and a coat and went outside to take some shadow pics. I took 3 or 4, but our screen is messed up so you have to guess what you're shooting and only 2 pics turned out alright. I'm thinking of putting one of them in my sig.\

The, um, 14th?

March 14 2004, 1:56 PM

Ok, so, no wash today. I Dutch braided for church this morning, and for tonight I've put my hair in a high ponytail. I tried to Dutch braid for tonight but I didn't fell like it. Man, I am so tired. Hmmm...I believe that's all. I think I'm going to go braid my ponytail now.
Bye Y'all.

16th...

March 16 2004, 1:54 PM

For those of you whom I didn't lose after my first entry, I'm going to change the colors on my journal so don't be surprised. I love the colors Fox picked out for me but I think I'm gonna make it more pink. Or more pastel. I'm going to play around and see.
ANYWAY, last night I C/O'd with SS (suave strawberry). No itchies. I believe I forgot to mention that on Sunday night I scalp washed with shampoo. Yeah, I know, bad me. My scalp was so itchy I could barely sleep. So big relief with the C/O last night. I dutch braided this morning. Yep. Ok. That's all.

Tomorrow...Gonna go wild!

March 17 2004, 5:49 PM

Surprise, surprise! I believe that on Friday I'm gonna get out my rinse out blue hair color. WHOO!
Tomorrow I'm going to wear my hair down. I'm gonna take pony tail holders just in case it bugs the cr@p outta me, but I hope to just have it restrained a little with a headband.

He he..

March 18 2004, 1:41 PM

This morning I left my hair down (after a looooong debate with myself and staring in the mirror at me with my hair down *blush*)
I walked in the school this morning and I just about fell over laughing at the looks on my friends' faces. Let's just say I haven't wore my hair down in a while!
Tomorrow is cap/hat day, so I'm going to dig for a hat, and pull my ponytail through and braid it. I really wanted to put blue in my hair, but I'm not going to, because on cap/hat day and every other day themed like that one, they usually give out prizes...

Thanks for the comments everybody!!

March 19 2004, 12:53 PM

Today I put on a space camp hat, wore a space camp shirt & pants, and put a bracelet with a rocket on it. Do you detect a theme?
Gosh. What else can I write about? I know it's a hair journal but it seems so boring.
So, anyway, ponytail pulled through the hole in the back of the cap. In about a half hour my friend Tiffany's supposed to come over and maybe we can play with our hair.
Ooooh, that sounds fun! 'Course, we'll probably do that after the sun goes down. While there's still daylight we'll probably take a walk through the woods and ride mine and my dad's bikes. And then we'll catch fireflies...Yeah. That sounds so much fun! I love being young.

Washed last night.

March 20 2004, 7:03 AM

C/O. Sort of like a CWC though. For my 'shampoo' I used Suave Coconut w/ Baking Soda. For my first 'C' I used Suave Strawberry. And for the last 'C' I used Hask's Henna N' Placenta. (Love this stuff. ) I need to get more though, it takes two packets to get all my hair. Then I put my hair in a braid and sat up til it dried. Every hour I took it down for 15 minutes. My scalp looks wondrously clean! It was getting so icky from just C/O!
