Vicious Two-Hand Slash!

To answer everyones question-this was a crap Junior Tournament! There were only 3 good teams that were in the Tournament. Chicago Mission, Brampton Jr and the Burlington Barracudas Jr team. We only had 12 skaters and lost to Chicago in the quarter-finals (no excuses). Markham played a bunch of lousy US teams and weak Midget AA teams and barely made it to the finals. Brampton was missing their two top scorers and used their 15 year old backup goalie to win the tournament. I watched the final game and the Markham goalie was keeping their team in the game against an obviously superior Brampton team. With less than 5 minutes to play and on the powerplay, a Markham player slew-footed a Brampton player to the ice. While that player was on her back on the ice, the Markham player got up and took her stick and two-handed her across her chest! One of the dirtiest plays I have ever seen. The Brampton player was injured and the Markham player got 5 and kicked out. If this was the NHL, it would be a 10+ game suspension for that vicious uncalled for stickwork. The Brampton parents were obviously upset and most of the Markham parents were disgusted also. PWHL suspension? Let's hope so. Can't wait till we play Markham in the new year as I am sure we will spank this slow awful team. I am sure Brampton have the games this year marked on their calender for payback! To sum it up- no good Jr teams will ever go back to this crummy tournament. This is a tournament for weak teams like Markham to enter to try and beat mediocre Midget AA teams. Congrats to the Thunder for their win- At least they beat Chicago!
