If you recat to AA then you would have to play through the playdown process to qualify for Provincials at the AA level. In this case there are no other AA teams in your region so you receive a bye directly to Provincials. If you think it sucks because you get a bye to Provincials, think about how the players on the A teams in your region would have felt about not being able to go at all because they were forced to beat out a team that is clearly AA in order to qualify.
The solution to the whole recat dilemma is simple. Play at a level you are capable of playing at, not at a level where you kick the crap out of the opposition. Outscoring the opposition 152-18 constitutes kicking the crap out of them. I understand that there may be extenuating circumstances as to why they started in A but the onus is on the coach/association to do the right thing without being forced to do so. | |
