Response to Re: Imports signed already?

some consider you an import for up to 3 years, some only in your first year. After this, even though you don't live locally, you could be considered grandfathered into the association.
Don't need to get another release unless you want to leave here to go somewhere else (even if its back to your local association)

Imports only really comes in to play at the younger ages where many associations have limits on the number of imports per team
eg AA may limit teams to 3 imports, A, BB might allow 1, sometimes levels B - C don't allow any (to help develop locally)
but you could wind up with more imports than the stated max if some of the kids are grandfathered and therefore not counted in the import limit.

At the M AA level many associations will allow more imports eg 5, also more negotiation between the coach and the associations exec to allow for any extras.

Goes completely out the window for Int AA, not every assoc has a PWHL team so many kids moving around trying to gain a spot and associations want the best team regardless of where the girls live.
