"If a better player shows up at tryouts, your "committed spot" is gone."

Wow, I wish that statement was true every where. Should the best players at tryouts not make the team? What ever happened to earning your spot? Is it now who ever Mom and or Dad can make the best deal with? Minor Hockey, boys or girls is going down hill fast with most parents trying to get their little Sally or Billy a spot on the top team without having to tryout and play well. Minor Hockey is in a sad state of affairs - it needs to go back to 60's and 70's when players and parents played for a fun and supported the system for the betterment of the system not their own agenda. I am pretty much fed up with what "our game" has become.
