I have said on here before, many of the you-went-where schools in the U.S. are top-notch schools. They are only you-went-where schools because we haven't heard of them in Canada. I again refer to some northeast small colleges such as Amherst, Williams, Middlebury that rank right up there with an Ivy League education. Just because we haven't HEARD of them in Canada doesn't mean they are not good schools. Many of the small, 'unheard of' colleges in the U.S. are far superior to the government subsidized, education factories we have here in Ontario and the rest of Canada. From information supplied on this forum and others, I believe it is somewhere between $14,000 and $20,000 for a student athlete to attend a CIS school (All in)! You need to compare this cost with what you will receive in financial aid/scholarship south of the border, as well as and most importantly, compare the level of education and programs available. There are so many opportunities; be open minded, check out all of them, and make the decision that is best for your individual situation. And also remember, if you are really having trouble deciding what to do, don't be afraid to take a shot at something for a year. If it works out...great, if it doesn't...make a change. Our kids seem so young now to be heading off to university/college (some are still 17!) and that first year does not have to be the be all, end all. It can be one of those 'life learning experiences.'
