I think the OP has the right to talk to the coach if they feel something is wrong. As long as it is done privately and respectfully the coach should welcome the feedback. If the coach does not welcome the feedback or questions he or she should not be coaching in my honest opinion.
Yes volunteering to coach next year is an option and should be explored but the problem is this year.
Most progressive organizations are moving to quarterly coaching reviews to try and catch this stuff before it turns into a large problem.
I am a certified D1 coach and I welcome parents to talk to me as well I have monthly parent meetings to address any concerns. In the end my decision is final but I do accept input along the way.
