Nepean TournamentJanuary 31 2011 at 3:11 PM No score for this post | Anonymous (no login) |
| In MAA, the Quebec teams did well versus the Ottawa-area teams. Nepean and Gloucester were shutout in the semis resulting in an all-Quebec final with the team from the Laurentians beating Abitibi. The winners are back in town for the OLS tournament on Friday. |

Abitibi is terrible, just a weak Ontario division. Nepean is good, much better than the Laurentides team overall, but Laurentides have some star power. |

So the poster shouldn't insinuate the level of skill on display in Nepean wasn't that high, but you can. Thank for trying. |

Not sure what your comment is supposed to mean ?? Maybe trying to ask others their thoughts on the teams or verifying that they were not belittling the others is way over the line ..LOL .. really think first .
I watched some of the games and if Sens are ranked # 2 in province then their competition was playing very well .
There were no real blowouts and quite sure the Sens will face some very competitive teams this weekend .

Isn't english great.
My apologies if you were indeed asking for others opinions. I did not take that from your post. Sounded like you were sticking up for teams at Nepean tourny by belittleing the eventual winners. |

Don't look at the score of the game, look at the fact that the other teams never touched the puck when they played the Sens. No teams in that tourny had any hopes of beating the Sens. |

You must have been watching different games than the rest of us !!!
True.. the sens are a strong team but they did not dominate any game for 3 periods .
They outlasted a couple teams but those teams also had numerous chances but did not capitalize .
Do not start thinking that they are the end all be all team .
In fact the sens struggled for 2 1/2 periods with a bantam A team during one game that I watched !!
Any team can be that good if they practice at least 4 times a week and only play tournaments . |

Kinda of a silly statement !! Not all parents can or want to spend loads of money on that type of hockey program !!
Personally , I have 3 kids playing hockey and 2 are playing competitive .. so do the math !!
Simple for parents with only 1 kid playing to throw money into such things but difficult for others with more kids plus provide food , house , other entrainment etc.
Did the whole elite team thing before with 2 of mine and while the development was good the basics of playing in a league were better for costs .
My statement is very truthful that any team on ice that much and played together for last 5 years can be very good .
If you are willing to sponser my D's team for the additional ice next season then please step up and be reconized .. if not then don't make absurd comments . |

Oh the Bantam A team they beat 6-1?
Don't downplay the Sens, they are untouchable in the Ottawa area at the Bantam level |

According to the website they scored 19 goals , with 2 goals against. 5 wins. Based on the teams rankings that are comimg in this weekend -Whitby #5 in Canada New jersey #8 in USA. Don't think the teams in the Nepean tournament were ranked that high, I think. Could be wrong, Gloucester played the sens tough twice according to the scores. Good showing by them. Don't think anything negative was meant. Could be wrong ! |

Really you could not have been in attendance or you are on some good meds there pal.
You mean the game that was 2-1 at end of two periods of back n forth hockey ??
You mean the game that Sens got 3rd goal with 7:08 left in game ?
You mean the game where net was clearly off for 4th & 5th goals but home team ref did not wave off either or had a clue to look at the net??
You mean the game where last goal could have been goalie interference ?
Oh yeah the Sens are a strong team but they did not crush Carleton Place like you envision thru rose coloured glasses .
The other games were 2-0 over and 3-1 over Gloucester.. Definitely not blowouts or total domination from what I saw ..
Really you think they are all that ? Quit blowing smoke !! They are a very strong team but if playing against the others regularly would not be that powerful as their play would be figured out and shut down more effectively .

The Carleton place goal was scored by a sens D! Do you really believe you saw the best of the sens? I don't think you need to be that defensive it was a 6-1 game. Second period was full of penalties, maybe that had something to do with it. If you don't think they are that good , they ask to play them again, they aren't in a league they would probably play you. |

I don't have to be that defensive ??.. but it's flippin alright for you to be all high & mighty that the Sens are the greatest bantam team !!!
Really get a grip and as I said if you read the post .. they are a strong team but others can cause them grief and compete against them .
Please try to remove your rose coloured glasses to see things clearly in this world |

Nobody has rose colored glasses, they have been beaten this year, they won the Nepean Tournament this past weekend but the team that last beat them , Whitby are in their tournament. Based on the ratings, (take them for what they are worth) Whitby ranked #5 is a very good team and will cause the sens grief just like Gloucester did , should they meet in the semis or finals. If they meet in the finals it would be a very good game to watch. That is all that was meant by the orginal statement. Sens won this am 4-1 over New Jersey in first game of winterlude. No disrespect intended in orginal statement. |

I think that the choice of your words made my comments defensive as I am certain that mine did the same .
Would love to see CP play Sens again but not sure if coach McDonald would agree .
Also , heard that Kanata AA has agreed to an exhibition game next weekend against CP as well .
Good luck to the Sens this weekend |
