This is what happens when there no rules!

Many Bantam AA teams cant find enough players to fill teams! even established organizations are having trouble filling teams. Many have posts on their websites looking for players....teams that used to have big turnouts can't find players.

Same at midget - many teams cant find enough bodies to fill their roster. It's funny because a few weeks ago several coaches were being very selective thinking that all these horses would be coming to their tryouts because a couple Jr teams folded at the expense of other talented players....now come tryouts they either have to settle for their 3rd choices or cant even find enough bodies to fill a team.

There are way too many MAA teams - not enough players.

Just browsing around the GTA I have found the following organization STILL looking for players/imports for their BAA or MAA or both teams.

From West to East

Burlington
Oakville
Mississauga
Etobicoke - 5 players for their MAA1 team alone
Brampton
Vaughn
North York
Willowdale

That is almost every org around the GTA!!!! And several of these has two AA teams, WHY????????????????????

Pure stupidity by the OWHA and the organizations themselves to allow so many teams.

So if you played BB last year and want to try AA, they want you!!! And your dad's chest will puff out because his kid is now AA!!

Oshawa dropped its B-AA & PeWe-AA this year and should have also dropped M-AA. Lack of talent is only one reason. If the posts are correct and there are 5 spots still open that should tell them something. But x prez's D on team so they will not drop the program. Egoes seemto be more important. Not enough talent in Oshawa and no imports interested think about it?

Does anyone ever see the day that players will have to play for the team(s)that they reside in. IE. You live in Brampton you play for Brampton. Is this even feasible?
Has it gotten to the point of whoever the best recruiter is takes the gold.
Is this why the Northern teams are so good? There is no place closer to lure them away and they develope their talent. Novel concept.

I don't see this as the answer either. If you find yourself in an organization that allows a lot of nepotism, such as Brampton, you will want the ability to move to another organization.

Boo f'in hoo

We live central GTA. I have at least 5 orgs my daughter can play for within a half hour drive. Expand that drive to 45 minutes and I can add another 5 orgs.

Which organization are you going to limit my daughter playing for? A 45 minute drive in TO is considered local wink.gif

A girl in Barrie has 4 orgs within a 30-45 minute drive. Why limit her. A girl in Oakville has the same options. Likewise Guelph, milton Whitby etc...

Build a quality program and they will come. Mandating you must play here because you live between these streets and those streets is a tossback to Big Brother (Sister) telling you what is best for you.

Do what is best for you instead of slagging others for doing what they perceive is best for them. If I wanted to fly my D to TB to play is anything wrong with that? How about sending her to a boarding school for the highest level coaching?

Freedom of movement is good.

The "boo f'in hoo" was completely unnecessary. If people were standing face to face, there is no way in the world that they would treat each other the way that they do while hiding anonmously on a forum. If you have a point, make it without insults.

Who's crying??? Who's slagging who?????
It was a question to throw out there. You make valid points but your sarcastic nature is a little immature.
Oh and BTW I did do what was best for my D.

I say it to their faces too wink.gif

It gets tiring listening to parents who complain about either imports taking their daughters spot, a team stealing all the good players, coaches recruiting, too many teams...

In a league with 32 teams, there will be terrible teams (ahem leafs cough cough). Lets make it only six teams. There will still be a last place team. To get the best, lets only have 1 team. it gets pretty boring watching them practice only.

I agree with you, this is my second year in girls travel hockey and I have just learned that in the Pee Wee age in North Halton they may only have two teams, not like the web site indicates three. Apparently so many girls have left to go to other centre for AA, that it has watered down the rest of the organization. I see no problem with kids moving around to play on a true AA team, but for centre like Brampton to rooster whom ever shows up and not follow their own import policy they hurt other centers and stop the development of growth in girls hockey. They are not promoting it they are hurting it. Bravo for Burlington they post the import policy and I am sure they follow it.

Willowdale's website is not up to date. This was posted before the last tryouts where players were signed.
