We are a group of friends who have come together because we share the common bond of caring for someone who has Trisomy 21. We are here to share therapy tips, medical issues, laughs, accomplishments and yes, even frustrations. We embrace what Trisomy 21 has brought into our lives. We feel that it has taught us to appreciate the true meaning of life. We count our children as blessings! We will fiercely protect them and fight for their lives to be valued just as all other peoples' are. We share our pictures, our stories and our hearts here not only to provide friendship and support for each other, but also in the hopes that others will open their minds and their hearts to our unique children and, in turn, make a better world for everyone.

I guess what bothers me the most is the editorial.....and the blantant discrimination

Response to O.k. I'm going to weigh in with a different opinion

people with T21 face in their life. We would not develop tests to identify race, creed, sexual preference, averageness....etc. and say that the test allows the mother to descretely decide if they want to keep the baby or terminated it, solely based on the test.

My daughter has Trisomy 21......and she knows that she has T21...and as she gets older, what will she think when she reads in mainstream press that there are tests to identify people like her [and this is only my own personal opinion....but I firmly believe that the only reason these tests have been developed is for the option to terminate the pregnancy]....yes, we might 'need to know'....to prepare ourselves, and I was subjected to the nucheal translucency test [not with my knowledge] and we did receive a soft marker for T21,,,so of coarse I set out to find out all I could on T21.......but that is neither here nor there. These tests are being developed to target certain people [for a certain reason].

Why is it OK to discriminate publically people with Down syndrome/T21, without any blanced editorial?

What do I tell my daughter when she asks [and I know she will ask]? She will fully understand the discrimination issue here......and even if she did not understand the discrimination [it doesn't make it any less discriminatory].

Eugenics is real.....it is a very scary issue, one that will someday effect all of humanity.

It is beginning to happen with Autism [new test to identify at birth.....how long till it is at 11 weeks gestation?].........will we all be silent still?

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
