Well, Harry showed just how much he meant "no tolerance" after the 358 race. Wayne Jelly should have been told to pack it up and take his crew and family with him. In all my years of going to the Valley, and they have been many, I have never seen such a show of idiocy and poor sportsmanship. Someone could have been seriously hurt in that incident. There were many innocent people standing around at the scale area that come over to congratulate their drivers, help them get unbuckled, maybe give them a drink, check their weight at the scale, etc.....Any one of them could have been hit by Kenny's car being pushed forward and up in the air by Wayne. I have never seen Kenny Tremont as furious as he was last night (with good reason). And then the classy Joanne Ely is over there yelling at Kenny's crew who were just trying to get the car out of there. (Hey, Joanne, when you and your dad are getting in for free because Howie is being nice to you, you should excercise a little restraint). And his girlfriend, that just happens to be a representative of Lebanon Valley as an employee, is there in Kenny's face telling him he's a f***ing piece of s***. What a lovely display. You can bet there will be people lining up at Howie's door, and his phone will be ringing off the hook from the witnesses to this display. Gonna find out just how much the Tornabene sponsorship means to the Valley after this one folks. I think Wayne messed with the wrong person this time. Howie is in a very bad spot!

No tolerance, ha-ha-ha, let's not forget that two of the yellow flags (one for the big wreck early) were a result of Wayne banging his way to the front, alas the flat tire. However, the racing Gods saw to it that he didn't get away with the victory. Thank you racing Gods.

I was at the scales and saw the whole thing. Harry's excuse was "none of the officials saw it" You can bet if it was not Wayne and say..someone like Paul Guilardi the officials would have taken care of it.

While i'm at it Heather needs to STFU and stop pretending to be an official. She has no business going into a drivers pit and telling him to watch his aggressive driving (Burl). I don't know what her position is at the track but I do know she is not a track official. She needs to learn to mind her busines and keep her mouth shut. They should have packed up all those woodchucks and sent them back to vermont where they belong.

Her position is not "official", it is "employee". While we're discussing it, why is she allowed to stand on top of the pit shack every Saturday night? That should be strictly for the officials. No other team is allowed to have a representative up there. Fair is fair, if she can, then every other team should be allowed to have one person up there also. Petty, maybe. True, yes.

I didn't realize that there was even more to this story.

Plain and simple ... Wayne needs to be banned if he can't control his temper.

I'm a Jelley fan ... or should I say "was" a Jelley fan ... who is tired of making excuses for Wayne's poor sportsmanship.

There was nothing ... and I mean absolutely nothing ... that Kenny did to Wayne. My eyes were glued on them and the only contact was coming out of turn 4 when Wayne tried to go deep and come up high, bumping Kenny. It was 100% Wayne's fault.

As if Kenny Tremont would intentionally tag someone. Even if those of you who hate Kenny think otherwise ... Wayne knows better. Kenny is the nicest guy in the world, and he is as clean as they come.

I am really surprised that Joann got involved. Are you absolutely certain of this? Is there 2 Joann's? I cannot picture the wife of Chuck Ely badmouthing the Tremonts. Chuck Ely was Kenny's boyhood hero and ne of his role models ... on and off the track. I've never heard Joann say anything but good things about Kenny.

As for Heather ... I've only met her twice, and have no reason to speak badly of her. However ... it is clearly a conflict of interest to have her involved with the operations of the track when she is Wayne's girlfriend.

Howie definitely has a situation on his hands, and is going to have to make a stance. At a minimum, Wayne should be suspended for a week, and be reprimanded over his actions.

One last note ... the Tornabene issue. It's also a conflict of interst to have anyone who sponsors a car also sponsoring any other aspect of the racing. If rectifying that conflict means no more Rifenburg night, or no more Tornabene pace car, so be it.

The integrity of the sport must be maintained at all costs.

Gasketcase - I once again think that you are being one of the most objective in this situation - I agree that something should be done - But I think it should be done to both Jelley and Tremont.

After the races, when everything had cooled down I went over and talked to the Tremont crew who believe that it was all Jelley's fault. Then I went over to the Jelley crew and they believe that it is all Tremont's fault. The officials however say they saw nothing.

Kenny and Wayne are both mad - These two drivers need to be taken aside to get this situation ironed out before it escalates any further.

As for conflict in sponsors or Heather working in the office - I won't comment because I don't know about these situations. I know that I like both of these drivers and would like to see that this problem is fixed, talked through or whatever these drivers do to put it behind them and I would like to see it soon, before something seriously bad happens.

I like them both as well. Kenny because we have been friends since childhood, and Wayne because his brother is one of my favorite people in the history of mankind.

I honestly don't believe kenny needs to be talked to. His crew is one thing, but, if Kenny was mad, it came from hurt feelings and confusion. Don't forget ... their families have been joined at the hip for 40 years.

If I thought for one moment that I could talk to Wayne without getting my face punched in, I'd go see him right now, and try to reason with him. Unfortunately, his reputation suggests that I'd leave with missing teeth and a situation that's more volatile than it was before I approached him.

I will talk to Kenny tomorrow, but I can already tell you almost word for word what he will say. (yes, i know him that well).

Kenny is going to downplay the situation and call it a misunderstanding. He will tell me that Wayne must think he did something intentional, and his temper kicked in. No matter how I coach or coax him, he will not speak badly of Wayne ... even privately.

You know who really loses here?

You an I, my friend.

We didn't choose to be caught in the middle of this fiasco, yet, that's exactly where we stand. We are being forced to try to make sense of something that seems senseless to us. And we're left wondering if there's something we can do to undo that which has been done.

It's a sad day.

Gasketcase, you are an alright person. I agree totally with you that Kenny wouldn't talk poorly about Wayne to the public - Although, he was more mad last night than I have ever in my days of watching him race ever seen him. And, I don't think that Wayne would bash your teeth in either, because he didn't bash mine in last night when I was talking to him.

I am 100% certain it was Joann. This was the 358 car. The crew was not Kenny's normal crew. She was in their faces pretty good.

PPC-

Thank you again for the compliment.

My fighting days are long behind me, so I have no shame in saying that I'm afraid of Wayne.

I know a lot of people call danny Sanchez "Slam-chez", but even his deepest-seeded haters have to admit that he's cleaned up his act in the past 2 years. I'd like to think that I had a part in that.

Danny came to the fence to talk to somone and I went down and told him exactly how his hot-headeness had knocked him from 5th to last, and knocked him out of the points lead. He snapped at me, and seemed like he was going to come through the fence at me.

I held up my hands and said "whoa ... I'm not the enemy, buddy ... i'm a fan and I'm tired of seeing you beat yourself when you should be winning".

He stopped, looked at me and said 'you're right. I'm sorry" ... stuck his hand through the fence and shook my hand, and said "thanks". Since that night, he seems to be controlling himself excellently.

With Wayne, I'd worry that there wouldn't always be a fence between us, and he might punch my lights out later. He is not a man to be taken lightly. That boy could put my ears where my arse used to be.

__________________________

LongTime-

I have to take your word for it because I know you've been around the track and would know Joann to see her.

Even with that, in the back of my mind, I have to wonder if it was one of the other sisters. They might take offense at this, but all the Jelleys look similar to each other. Even Joann's son, Donnie Ely, looks somewhere between Butch and Wayne.

I wonder this because I once mistook lyle for Butch. I saw him in the stands and said, "whay aren't you racing"? and he said "I ain't raced in years".

I think I'm going to dig out Joann's number and call her.

And I'm definitely going to Kenny's tomorrow.

Gasket,

It's scary how much they all look alike. I know for a fact it was her. Can't tell you why I know, but I know.

As for "slamchez", don't you wonder how that prostock class would be if he was still racing with them?
