The one thing i will never forget about this game is when we went on the pitch to escape the burning chip van, came out the ground through the Bradford end,i lost my mates so was hanging around to see if i could find them, stood with a load of lads assumed they were Leeds, anyway they turned out to be Bradford as a few of them lifted there jumpers up to reveal Bradford scarves tied around them, giving it the big one until down the road you could hear,Leeds,Leeds,Leeds,Basically the whole Bradford lot ran without even getting close to the Leeds mob.
Got with this Leeds mob and then chased another mob of Bradford away to the Richard Dunn sports centre, then walked back to the station no OB in sight exchanging pleasantries with the local ethnics.
Arrived at bradford to the sound of barking dogs and windows of the train getting smashed, thousands of leeds roaming around unopposed by any ointment. Finally found our way to the shithole after various lagers, again unopposed. One of the lads gets his head cracked opon by leeds throwing bricks from behind the chip van, that grass banking area then bang, the chip van goes up directly behind us and my mate is stood there with a bag of money he swiped from the van. As leeds attack the bradford end and the infamous HOOLI VAN drives around the pitch we invade, exchanging pleasantries with trevor cherry on the way. We make our way to the seating area in the far corner and bang, my first punch as a football fan lands, knocking out some bare chested beer monster. As a young lad im hooked, the feeling was invincible, into their end and im off on one.
I remeber walking back to the train station when i was congratulated by older lads of the firm and feeling top of the world. We met some bradford but they ran, some gave chase but the rest couldn't be arsed. Eventually we were rounded up and 4 were nicked, the rest herded back to the station
The night ended back in a local boozer with stories of the day, what an experience, sat with lads in the know, feeling part of them, legends in a young lads eyes, knowing you have proved yourself to them
sadly they are now only memories for most of us from the 70's/80's.
for the younger crowd they'll never know what it was like to go in the kippax - shed - clock end - chicken run or shelf to name but a few.
those days are gone but not forgotten.
14\15 at the time, and to say that day was an eye opener is a fucking understatement.
Been to a few aways like hudds and Barnsley and seen a bit of trouble, but this was something else. Wasnt just a few nutters there was fucking hundreds. There were Leeds from everywhere, Wales, Scotland, London all over England and lads from Sweden\Norway etc.
1st game they had dropped the membership (red card ffs) \ all ticket restriction wasnt it? and the last
Dont remember to much before the game, but once inside you could tell something was going to kick off.
All of a sudden the terrace to the left of us parted as 50-100 Leeds surged down the terrace, fucking mayhem after that as lads started climbing fences and launching fucking rocks the size of footballs from the banking behind us (fuck knows why as the where hitting Leeds lads.)
We stood under the chip van trying to get away from the hail of rocks, when we here "its going to fucking blow". Panic everywhere as lads were trying to clamber over fences to get out of the way. Luckily some stewards opened some gates and we got out of the way. Looked back and some total nutters were trying to push the fucking thing down the terrace.
Outside we got herded onto buses as Leeds lads were running amok all over. Bus windows going through everywhere, with seats and all sorts geting launched out. Coppers were struggling lke fuck to cope.
Bit vague but got back to the train station, which was strangley quiet, only to be chucked on a train to Leeds, though we were going back to Skipton, and the coppers wouldnt let us go catch that train. A familar feeling following Leeds.
reckon if that had happened to today there would have been a few Thousand expecting a knock, and that isnt exajurating.
you really do talk some shite on his forum yes leeds have always had the numbers
but to say at odsal you had us running all day is complete bollocks and leads me to question how many of you were even born that day.
both firms gave a good account of themselves a few groups of city got a kicking as did a few groups of leeds all in all it was a good day something the younger generation will never see
I'd be the firts to admit Leeds had the largest numbers I ever witnessed that day. Hundreds of them in seperate mobs. Up to 1,000 or more. But it was also the biggest mob I ever saw Bradford City have too which was bolstered by the residents of Newby Square. Defo 500 at one point. The thing is you lot have selective memories. There will be quite a few on here who know they got the scare of their lives that day.. And its true ointment were strtched all over the place and just could not cope with all your numbers at times.. And i would suggest there would not be many firms in the country who could have.. But shite about unopposed etc is bollox. I think about 20 Ointment got jail for that game.
yeah i remember seeing a leeds lad get stabbed up manchester road and another with his arm broke.
like i say it was one of the best rucks ive ever been involved in. leeds had massive numbers out that day but you didnt take the piss
Some busybody old friend of my mother showed her the Mondays T and A which had a beauty picture of me and my mate running accross the pitch to the Bradford end(I was 17) It was in colour too so there was no chance of me pretending it was someone else.I got a right hiding(from her not the famous oikment)
The said match at odsal was one of the worst experiences i have encounted watching leeds away in some thing like 30 yrs of following leeds away.
The amount of trouble caused by leeds fans that day was on a scale i have never seen before!
Both before the game going up manchester road,in odsal, after the game it was very scary .. the thing was it was mainly leeds who was causing the main problems & all manner of people where getting hurt & this was from our own fans ...totally unreal.
Now i also saw some city fans causing bother as well up manchester road before the game,& afterwards on richard dunne's football pitches...where there was a mass free for all...which was quite comical...as i was watching from my aunties house which over looked the area... which i went to after the game got stopped & players taken off....know the area quite well as i have family who live there.
After wards walked down manchester road... total mayem ... quite a lot of asians where out throwing stones at buses then running off' coming back again..doing the same thing again...crazy...i think if memory serves me right a leeds fan got stabbed on manchester road..a one hit wonder the kid who did it ran off.. it was well reported at the time in the t&a & e/post.
Quite a number of people did get jailed from both sides as well.
The thing about odsal was that when leeds had played at other grounds &trouble came on'i never saw as many leeds fans getting hurt by their own eg i was stood in front of that chip van at odsal when leeds fans above where throwing rocks &stones at it & saw some of the injuries other leeds fans recieved head injuries very nasty... they where too....& other instances at that match where leeds fans got hurt by leeds fans .
How ever i think in 1977 i was at the old burden park ground(bolton's old ground & leeds kicked off big style that was mental as well but never saw any leeds hurt by leeds even though it was total mayhem throughout that day in bolton&at the ground! i can name several others where same thing occured but hardly saw any leeds fans getting injured!thats why it was disturbing not only where bradfud getting done by leeds !leeds where doing leeds! strange..
one game at bolton(1979?) started with bolton fans throwing coins at leeds and leeds knocking down the toilet and throwing the bricks at the bolton fans, every away match was dodgy in those days, london one in particular, not like now, especially hiding your colours until you got into the ground(mainly if you went on the train)i m talking the 70s now. it wasnt safe anywhere.much better now, most matches are trouble free and you can enjoy your day out!
i was there that day,we got the upper hand, bradford got a right beating on scum road and the interchange, there was a good turn out of us from dewsbury about 50,what a day that was and will stick in the memory for a long time, one of the dewsbury lads was nicked for the chip van,and another took his chips back saying they were well done lol.
Apart from the obvious with that catering outlet getting singed along with my youthful eyebrows, what I most remember are the temporary turnstile huts, which were freestanding and just got bowled over as the Leeds lot stampeded past them to get in. Ours had this little guy in with a flat cap, and his hut went over with him in it, he was flat on his back and shouting oi you lot, what you think you're doing? Laughing so hard I could hardly breathe, never mind clamber over his prostrate turnstile.
SAT JUST IN FRONT OF THE CHIP VAN. A FEW LEEDS STARTED TO RCK IT OVER AND THE NEXT MINUTE IT WAS UP IN FLAMES. SOME MAD GET THEN DECIDED TO OPEN THE VALVE ON A GAS CANNISTER AT THE SIDE OF THE VAN. FORTUNETLY A BRAVE LEEDS LAD TURNED IT OFF AGAIN.

Smashing and burning anything but the opposition . Number one when it mattered ? I dont quite think so do you really ? At home you were decent but away from home you never carried that reputation with you much unless you were smashing things up and terrorising saturday shoppers . You never did much on Merseyside and i gather that you were not fond of making a show at OT either . Most peoples top firms WHEN IT MATTERED is this in particular order . If you argue with any of these then you simply dont have a clue and werent about WHEN IT MATTERED.
you've seen too many films m8.
West Ham never did it at Leeds and neither hasd Wall.
Aak the real ICF who had them at it in the market and ambushed them on there own turf.and ask Wall who walked to the old den from LondonBridge, believe me no one ever did that but Leeds .Staight from the horses mouth.Everton/Liverpool oh dear!As for the pig sty sorry ot, who walked rom deansgate un opposed 300+ afew years backwhen they new Leeds were about?

I never said Leeds never put in any work it was yourselves that have stated you were number one when it mattered . Leeds have brought firms to Everton but never done very much with them for example in 92 when you beat us 3-2 you brought a large firm which would have mullered what we had out but and i dont say this lightly you never stepped foot out of your escort when you were being called on . I cannot and will not speak for Liverpool but i think you"ll find them saying the same thing . Man Utd have stated much the same thing too they can only recall you bringing it to OT once of any note whereas they consistantly brought it to Elland Road and called it on or have been attacked by yourselves . Leeds were a force at home thats a given fact you had to be on your guard at all times but away from home you werent up to much which is mystery to me as you always had numbers and very game lads who loved smashing things to bits. Couple of years ago your youger lot with a couple of old heads stayed in the arkles and had a brief set too with Evertons younger lads and held your own perhaps even getting the better of it but thats about it i am afraid . It would be intresting if Everton draw Leeds at Leeds in the cup .
Fuck me are you the north west's crime reporter. You must go to all the games then.
How can you tell us what happened with Liverpool and Manu when you dont really know what happened at Arkles.
That game in 92 we where all in your end so might have been a good idea to have a go then rather than gob off to the escort. We arrived early doors from Blackpool and there was already a few hundred being held at station. We got walked to ground and then when we where leaving we all got rounded up again and walked back to station. I didnt see fuck all of you all day apart from two who came over to have a look at us all sat in lower bullens (think thats what it was called).
There hasnt really been a problem with Liverpool so we dont ever seem to take a mob.
I can agree with you about us not taking a mob to manu. We only ever used to get about 1700 tickets so it proved hard to take loads of lads plus we also had away card's which made it even harder to get tickets. We did turn up other year as someone has said and manu where in a village few miles from centre. I am sure some of the older lads could tell you tales of the 70's but in the 80's we never even met any of you teams.
Also if you knew anything then you would know some of our lot go with you to games and meet up at england games. I know they went to Portsmouth with you the other year.
Bradford - can remember running from that chip van thinking it was Valley Parade part deax. What a stupid game to lift the ban. Still have the marks on my arse from the crack my old fella gave me for going. I denied it but there was me and my permed-hair-at-the-back-only hairdo running up the embankment on ITN, mulletts were in them days.
Everton. We had at least 50 in your end and took the piss so dont come chelping about not being out of the escort.
Not been to Everton since the 92 game, but went to Mancs, Liverpool and Everton 77 through to 82 and 90 to 92 and to say we never did much at yours shows what a joker you are.
Its been pretty much over since the mid 90s in case you haven't noticed, aside from occasional side street 5 min wonders. But before then - we took it to Mancs more than once and had results - battered before 80, more wins than losses at theirs since.
Liverpool had a bigger, gamer set of lads than Everton later 70s/early 80s (although your all used to team up so it was hard to really tell) and again upto 80 Liverpool was rough and we got done. 80-82, well we tended to have a laugh around the park and the ground and you got rumbled every time it was even numbers. Everton generally snidey cunts who didn't want to know unless they outnumbered us 5 to 1.Fuck all unless you're tooled up.
At least the Mancs had and have a go. You lot are great at re writing history when the truth is you've never done fuck all. Even that 'major result' in the 85 cup game at ours that Nichol claims is a fucking joke. Came out the station, ran like fuck down to the old queens hall, smacked a few poor cunts waiting for the bus to the ground, get rounded up by the OB - job done - Everton do Leeds. Never mentioned how you shat yourselves when we were in your escort on the way back.
Typical that you never let reality get in the way of trying to make yourselves look hard. Complete tools the lot of you.
That was funny i got a chuckle out of that . If you dont rate Everton then thats up to you my friend opinions are like arseholes everyone has one . Firms such as West Ham , Boro and Man Utd have the upmost respect for Everton for good reasons infact our reputation speaks for itself ive no reason to justify anything to anyone . People who use popular phrases like " Everton typical snidey cunts who dont want to know if its not in their favour " really dont know what they are talking about deserve contempt .
When it mattered as your calling says Everton were about as bad and evil as it got history proves it and no amount of shite talking from some on here can change that fact . FV is dead and almost buried to me thats a good thing as respect went out of sight once the internet and shite talking took over . I have respect for Leeds as ive been slapped there a few times and have no problem admitting it . Have a pleasant bank holiday monday night lads
Well if you were in our end ive honestly never heard of that , if you were and nothing happened then well done . I can only say what i saw and what ive said is what i saw nothing more nothing less . The lads in the escort looked pensive to say the least which baffled me as there where only about 60 Everton and you had atleast 150 or more . If you walked across stanley park like you say then again well done but ive honestly never heard anything about that either . Oh and i am 45 though judging by my spelling you wouldnt think it !
Only ever seen you take two firms anywhere, o evil one - One to Chelsea and one to West Ham, both early 80s. Chelsea I heard you did ok. But like most things its who you bump into on the day.
Never seen you do much at yours or even want to know - unless you were sniping round Lime St or on Stanley Park.So tell me, given I know fuck all and you lot are so evil- when have you had any kind of result against us?
Still cant get why your so proud of running scarfers in a stand and burning a chip van. You should have just come out of the turnstiles and walked across to the sports centre.. But you wanted a big show. Nonetheless my first duster had plenty of skin on it by end of the day. And as in Rome a fat shirt wearing scarfer with leeds scarf got a taste.. his son was crying his shitty little eyes out.
answer to that is no.. was on grass bank near richard dunne with a couple of hundred more all through game. As for the scarfer??? well lets just sat I doubt he'll wonder down Nelson Street again. His son??? Cry you little peace of shit...
No but you can clearly see a mob of your lot shitting it on Manc Road. Two of your good lads are in the picture. I was with a mob of Leeds who had just had them on their toes.
It was like that all day. I never once saw Bradford stand their ground. And that includes after the game on Richard Dunn's football pitch. Its no disgrace - you were heavily outnumbered and got legged. You don't like admitting it....
