Another disappointing day yesterday, slag me all you like but we were woeful imho, yep I'll be chuffed with a play off spot but won't be surprised if we crash out in the two legger.
Too many wasted passes but we had the opportunity to strengthen in January and did bugger all about it, can we produce next season and give it a really good shot ??

Taken in isolation, you would say yesterday was just a bad day at the office. Look at the bigger picture, and it's a bit more worrying. Our games against the other teams in the top 6 have resulted in 5 losses, 2 draws and 2 wins......not very inspiring. If anyone asked you in September if you'd take our current situation, I'm sure everyone would have been more than happy. You've got to be in it to win it, and if we do retain our place in the top 6, anything could happen. Having said that, I'm seeing more and more some real big flaws in our team and it's performances. The midfield is one of the weaker in the division, and if like yesterday, our normally reliable defence has an off day, we look a poor team. Monk has found a formation that has taken us higher than we imagined, but I don't think he has an effective plan B to fall back on. If anything can drag us back into the Premier League, it's the passion of our fans inspiring somewhat average players to perform way above what they are capable of. That and luck with injuries, decisions on the pitch, and a few fortunate bounces of the ball. One thing is for sure, we've got to be far, far better than yesterday.

Not only has Monk found a formation that has taken us higher than we could have imagined, he's also found a formation that has taken us far higher than our individual abilities. Green is a great example. Had an excellent season on the whole, but wouldn't get in many of the top half teams' teams. Sackho, Doukarra, Phillips, wouldn't get in Sheffield United's team.

If we make it to the play offs, which we should now, unless Barnsley make the play offs Monk should be named Championship Manager of the Year for massive over achievement.

Bar one of the centre backs, and possibly Taylor above Whitlow, the current team would have no chance of getting anywhere near Wilko's promotion winning team. So hats off to Monk, and let's hope we can see the job through.

Not expecting us to win the play-offs but our home form has been good this season and we dont concede to many goals...over two legs we may have a chance. With the resources availiable Monk has done great especially when you consider we didnt strengthen in Jan window. If we had the luxury to rest a few players before the play-offs begin especially Chris Wood then this may help our cause.

Not a fan of resting players from games, maybe take them off in games but keep everyone at it, players want to be involved if playing well, certainly going to be an interesting season end, the dreaded fulham have worked their way in was only a matter of time.

What worries me is, if don't make it (get promoted) how many players will we lose, Taylor, Wood or even Monk himself. We're still only a 'stepping stone' club for personnel who want to move onto better things. The owners did nothing in January transfer window, and don't seemed that interested in the massive steps the team has achieved this season. Monk has worked miracles on very limited resources through his organisational skills a clever decisions in developing players. However we can all see the limitations.

The midfield is our weakest area, it lacks nous and the ability to open up defences, hence a play maker and the ability to pass the ball. The defence has been excellent, however it won't carry us through the play-offs if we finish in the top six. We can't rely on Wood as one man goal machine, and it was only a few months back we were slagging him off, he's improved immensely but he is still limited in ability (modern day Lee Chapman?)

This is where the owners have been conspicuous through their silence (I don't trust the cunts). December was the time to look at the developing picture in terms of our performance and put plans in place to back Monk to the hilt and look to retain our better players and bring in others. There is never a bad time to get out of The Championship.

Looking at the other contenders, they are all showing vulnerabilities, but for me Fulham remain the big danger, the top two slots have gone. Only are organisational skills rather than individual ability could possibly see us promoted.

We don't thrash teams even at home, but we win games. There is certainly a pattern to our performances, nothing spectacular even when winning.
