Missiori, northwest ohio, western wisconsin, welcome all pullers. These are just the latest sites that I have found and added to the links collection, several also have message boards that were added to the message boards page at my site. Now if we could just get those pullers to get on here and chat we could really share ideas.

Please take a few minutes when you got the time, and visit some of these sites. Sign their guest books, leave messages on their boards, email them, the more we stick together the better pulling will become.

And if we could get all the organization to post their schedules on the US calendar, we could really see just how big pulling really is.

Colorado truck pull. web page

May 23 2005, 11:05 PM

Reddog, I'm glad to see somebody has reconized Colorado for having truck pulling. It seems like truck pulling is so popular in the mid-western states that its not even noticed anywhere else. I pull in some of the "stock truck" events in the Colorado Truck and Tractor Pullers Association when they get close(within 350 miles)to South Dakota. It kind of takes the fun out of pulling when you have to drive 350 miles or more one way to pull for 5 seconds. When I moved to South Dakota from Colorado I was really surprised that there were no truck pulls. There are some antique tractor pulling. They don't want anything to do with trucks. They are happy with 20 or 30 people in the audience where they could have hundreds if they allowed trucks.Oh-well. My first pull this summer will be in Mitchell Nebraska.July 8th.

well

I am doing all I can, I contacted each of the organizations I found, told them about this board, and the calendar. If I could ever get people to start using, it would be like a drug, and they would be hooked.

We could really share alot now with the internet. And eventually I think we will see pulling evolve like drag racing, and motorcycles, and we will have a national organization, and we will all run the same rules.

AMA has done this for years and years. And they still run BIG events, and have a pro circuit that travels the country. But for those who cant afford or have no desire, they can stay withiin their district and race. Or, as we once did, we traveld to florida and raced. We didnt get points, but we got money, and it didnt cost us anymore to race there then it did at home. AND we didnt have to worry about being legal, the rules were the same for everyone all across the country.

I dont have any NHRA experience, but i would guess they are about the same way.

Pulling is still far from this. A prostock NTPA midsouth truck, is nothing like a KTPA prostock truck, and more like some states SUperStock. Modified's are better, i think they are getting fairly standardized with the NTPA rules.

I hope I live to see the day when I can go on a trip, ie up home, and swing by and pull against Shazam, and know we are all running the same rules, jst on differant tracks.

safty rules

May 24 2005, 11:32 PM

I think you have a great idea by having other pulling orgaizations put up their link to their web page. I am always looking at other organizations classes and rules. I am sure other people do the same. I see some events where an outsider wouldn't stand a chance because of their rules and won't budge.

how true how true

We have two groups of prostock trucks in this area, and two prostreet, between three orgs.

The psk4 combined would make an excellant class. I tried 4 years ago to get them to come togther, they would not, and now they are further apart then before, and insteed of pulling all the pulls they used two the pulls have been split.

they are not real differant, same weight box, slight hitch length, same wheelbase, same safty, 15 cid differance, one alky one gas, one street tire one now cepeks, headers all run up, or down and back with muffs.

I suggested, go with the higher cid, longest hitch, run gas, run large street tires or small bars no cepeks, and now we have a solid 20 trucks, with 8 really close competitors, and a good chevy ford mix, unfortunatly we only have one dodge in the country that ive seen.

i like street tires, because we have alot of NTPA mods and supermodfwds, so that helps the fans tell the differance.

And prostrret all run headers down and back with muffs, so they are easy to tell apart.

That we we have a stepping stone. Guy can pull stock, till he gets banned, like me, then go pst, when ready psk, mod, smfwd. A good natural progression.

We have 50 pstfwd trucks within 300 mile radious. They are dang near all running the same rules, just enough diff to keep the other orgs out.

That mentallity is what will hold pulling back, as a major spectator sport.

Favorite Class

May 26 2005, 11:17 PM

At the bottom of this page Reddog posted "Favorite Class" which kind of goes along with this thread. Trying to make truck pulling more popular. I think my favorite class is "Stock" Not because I pull in the stock class or, should be (haha). The Org. that I pull in, does'nt always allow the stockers and when they do we have to pull an hour before the event starts. The audience that shows up early loves it and the audience that shows up on time are pissed because they didn't know they were pulling. I like it because these are guys that use these pickups to get back and forth to work and drive them to and from the pulls. Some of them do full pulls and might have to pull a couple more times that night. Where as the Pro-Stock and Modified trucks never do a full pull or have to re-pull. They hardly ever break, where the Stock trucks are always breaking. I love seeing that as sick as it may seem. If I think back on the past 30 years of watching Truck Pulls, some of the stock truck pulls stick out most. Where they have broken REAL bad, one paticular that went through the fence at the end of the track at a fair grounds. I don't like tractor pulls because thats what tractors were built to do.No big deal. Hope I don't make any body mad. Don't take me wrong I would love to go Pro-stock and like watching them pull.I can appreciate all the work that goes into them. But there's nothing like an old or new stock truck trying to pull and tearing out their driveshaft or clutch. I've done that plenty times myself. And after saying all this crap I probably jinxed myself.

problem i have

May 30 2005, 10:56 PM

with stock clas is, they never stay stock. And the fault lies with us the pullers. Like me many people are into pulling, and build a truck to take on off weekends. As this catches on we have trucks that get trailered in to pull, and never ever see the road. And i hear this all the time,"he uses it everyday", and i'll say witht he rear end blocked up with those fake shocks, must be a rough ride.

But the problem really is with rules, at the pulls we do with Hill Sled, the stocks are always add on's, and no one sanctions them, no one really can anymore without requiring a bunch of sagety stuff. How am i gonna drive my truck every day with driveshaft loops? So the add the stock class and few guys in the know bring hot trucks and wear em all out. Shame on me I like to do it once or twice a year myself.

I ussually recomend to promoters to make it local and check licenses. Base it off the number of pulls in the area, the more pulls the closer they need to be, the fewer the further out you go. Licence abd insurance, and no dealer tags. These are all the things I have used to pull stock. I know it eliminates me for their compatitions, but its ok if its fair to the ones that go. If they dont want to make rules, I'll go and play, and when everyone starts gripping, send them to the promoter, i'm not illegal if there aint no rules.

stock class

June 15 2005, 9:52 PM

I run in the stock class. I trailer my truck because I almost always break and do not want to have to fix it in the dirt to get home (sometimes 300 miles). Since I only use this truck for pulling a couple times a year and can't justify belonging to a Pulling Club and going Pro-Stock. And I don't get insurance or buy license plates for it. If I were to come to one of your pulls it sounds like I wouldn't be able to pull.
I don't know about your stock truck rules but where I pull we can pull with open headers, after market intake manifold, D.O.T. approved tires, sometimes rear suspension blocks. But there are a few other things we can get away with because no one ever inspects us except for hitch height.
As far as a "stock" truck goes, no such thing, I have never seen a truck come from the manufacture with a hitch on it. Maybe the new ones do but the 70's through the 90's no hitch. I know thats digging pretty deep to count out a stock truck but who decides whats stock? Sometimes we've had a "heavy stock" or "cheater stock" for the more modded trucks.
Whats funny is, I've seen stock trucks with 600 h.p.,all the suspension, everything possible for pulling the sled, is O.K. with everybody but as soon as they start adding some safty stuff like a scatter proof bellhousing or drive shaft loops, than we start whinning.
