Goaltender Joins Providence from OHL's Ottawa
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, announced today that they have signed goaltender Adam Courchaine to an Amateur Tryout Agreement from the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League. With the move, the P-Bruins now have 21 players on their roster, including 11 forwards, seven defensemen and three goaltenders.
Courchaine, 19, joins Providence for his first professional experience after being signed by the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League on September 30, 2007. The rookie goalie participated in Boston's summer development camp and pre-season training camp before making his way to Ottawa for his first season in the OHL. Courchaine went 17-25-4 with a 3.24 goals-against-average and .905 save percentage for the 67's during the regular season. The undrafted native of Kanata, Ontario, then went 0-4 with a 4.55 GAA in the playoffs as his Ottawa team fell in four games in the first round of the postseason by the Oshawa Generals, with the series ending last Thursday. Last season, Courchaine posted a 19-11-5 record and 3.12 GAA in 39 games for the Orleans Blues of the Central Junior A Hockey League.
