KEVIN SCHAEFFER LOANED TO READING
Defenseman Appeared in 31 Games for Providence
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, the regular season points-champions of the American Hockey League, announced this morning that defenseman Kevin Schaeffer has been assigned to the ECHL's Reading Royals. With the move, the P-Bruins now have 25 players on their roster, including 13 forwards, eight defensemen and four goaltenders.
Schaeffer, 23, originally joined Providence on December 15, 2007 from Reading, where he began his rookie campaign with seven points on two goals and five assists in 19 games. The blue-liner made his P-Bruins debut on the night of his recall, earning his first career AHL point with an assist. Schaeffer's first AHL goal came on January 25. After 31 games and two points with the P-Bruins, the defenseman returns to the Royals for their Division Semi-Finals match-up against the Elmira Jackals. The best-of-seven series is tied at one with Game 3 scheduled for tonight in New York.
Prior to turning pro, Schaeffer spent the last four seasons playing for the Boston University Terriers. In his collegiate career, the first-year blue-liner had 54 points, including 37 helpers, in 152 contests. Schaeffer, a native of South Huntington, New York, was drafted by the Nashville Predators 193rd overall in the sixth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. |
