Sounds like Tuukka took his wandering from the net too far. We kept saying he'd get burned and I think he did on one of those first two goal. And in the second period he was way out of net and, thank you Byron Bitz! Stay in the @#% net, Tuukka!
Sadly, one of those lousy goals bit it for the P-Bruins who ended up in OT again, but worse, they ended up losing in OT. So, we definitely will have a Game 6 here. I just hope that Providence wakes up tomorrow. I DO NOT want to have to attend two games where they MUST win.
It sounds like Portland has stolen all our "great bounces". From all I heard, I can't say our guys played poorly.
One of the annoying parts of these games in Portland is just listening. Sadly, where ever our media is set up, it's right near some LOUD-mouthed guys who spend all 1st and 3rd period yelling whatever stupid things that they can at Tuukka (and considering that the radio broadcast is pretty high up, I'm sure he never heard them). Then in the second period I got to hear, let's go pirates, most of the time. I just changed it to Bruins.. LOL

I'd love to hear about what happened with those two goals in less then a minute. Was he out of the net. Or did he have no defense? Our defense has been playing great -- but so has Tuukka. As I wrote, he was way the heck out of the net at one time, but Byron Bitz slid down in front of the net to block the puck (and save Tuukka's backside).
I do know that I was so, so sick of hearing "Tuukka.. you s*ck", and "Tuukka s8cks" and on and on during the 1st and 3rd period. Hard to listen to a game when all you hear are your players (or goalie) being bashed.
It was on the other side of the ice and i didn't have a good view of what was to blame for those goals. I know we weren't very happy though.
OMG. the bitz save was nice on his part. but there shouldn't be a need for him to be in goal like that.
there was this guy near where i was sitting and he all he said was tuukka when took was in the net near us. so i yelled tuukka you rock. and he quieted it down for a bit but not much. portland fans are not on the top of nice fans.
I just don't get "fans" who spend their whole time bashing the other team. I spend my whole time at the game cheering for and yelling for our players to "go, go, pass, skate, etc." Seems pretty odd to focus on the other team. Sure, on occasion we'll yell, "ya bum". LOL!

Defensive nap.....
May 5 2008, 1:28 PM
I heard from a few people that were up there (some of my Portland friends) that the defense was totally out of position on those two goals within one minute. That coupled with some traffic in front of the net set the stage.
I sort of feared that it was a defensive lapse (or nap). It Tuukka had been out of position, it would make sense for one goal, but not to have them score two so fast.
I just looked back at the scoreboard from yesterday and it was four different defensemen. The first goal was a power play one and Adam McQuaid and Jonathan were on the ice (Matt Hendricks was at center) and then on the next goal it was Matt Lashoff and Sean Curry (Zach Hamil at center). It's interesting to note that both Jonathan Sigalet and Matt Lashoff have, er.. well been in the wrong place while pucks got by them.
