Can Anyone Explain

Anyone else as perplexed at how Providence can go from winning six games in a row to losing three games in a row? I never expected them to win forever, but a loss then a win, and even a loss and another win is much more what I expected. It didn't even sound like the same team -- Providence -- in Portland. And how did Providence, not just beat them, but slaughter them at home?

Well, if they have to do it at home, the last two are here! Not sure if my nerves can take it.

I'm trying not to be a negative nellie, but this season is over. I don't see how this team can win Friday and force a game 7 Saturday. I have been a Rask fan since day 1, but the lack of defense and his shoddy goaltending have cost this team the season and it is heartbreaking. What kills me is Portland isn't that good a team and Aubin can be beat, but once get the lead we can't depend on Rask or the Defense to keep it. Maybe I am just really down this morning, and therefore really angry, but I don't see this turning out good.

Oh my goodness!!!

Ancass1, why have you given up on this team already just because the series is at 3-2? Have you no faith in this team? You don't think that they are capable of coming back? You don't think that they can win two in a row at home even after they did just that at the beginging of the series? And then Portland won 3 in a row! I think that having a couple of days off to reflect, think, train and prepare is probably a good thing. I predict that the P Bruins will be extracting some serious damage on Portland Friday night, and then a tight game with a win on Saturday.

Damn.........

Ancass is just frustrated like the rest of us. I never thought our back would be to the ropes like this. Its win or go home time. I'm going to predict a win on Friday, but only because of home ice. Lets hope Jordan gets a start too. Rask deserves a night off after playing 9 straight games.

It's major frustration. This team is so good and I am so confused as to why this is happening. I will be there Friday (even after running around last night saying otherwise) I hope the combination of being home and the fans is enough to push it to 7 games and a win.

Just as confused as everyone else. What is going on?!? Portland is not that good of a team. Yes, Aubin is better than McKenna and Coleman but we can score on him. We lost in ot and by 1 goal every game. I think Tuukka has folded and needs a game or two off. I don't think he should've been played after the two losses. A weeks ago, we didn't see Jordan for a few games, if he is not well enough to play, but Kevin Regan in. We have 3 goalies. Please lets try someone other than Tuukka. They can always be pulled if they can't handle it.

I really help the home ice and fans helps to pull the team together and pulls them out of this rut.

Seeing them play so well all season and seeing it go down now is very frustrating. And the looks on their faces last night showed their disappointment and frustration.

I having given up on this team at all, and I can't wait for them to have their fans their on Friday and I'll be as loud as ever (not that it's ever a problem. HAHA ) and I know that our team is far better then Portland.

As I've read these notes, it seems that the weakness lies in defense a bit (shore up!!) and in the net. I say give Jordan -- or even Kevin -- a chance. I do like Tuukka, but (forgive me) I think he's letting his success kind of get to him. Just like how he was way out of the net and Byron had to save his neck.

I know that there was an article in one of the Boston papers and in it he was told that he'd be in Providence again next year (most all rookie goalies spend a couple of years here) and he was kind of like, "well, I understand. I don't know that I have more that I can learn in the AHL". He wasn't being rude to come back, but I thought, "you think you've learned it all?????" So, I'm wondering about attitudes now and that scares me. We all know what happens when anyone plays too cocky. I HOPE I'm all wet about this. But, there is something that is happening.. in net.. or with defense.

confidence

May 7 2008, 12:25 PM

I know it is depressing to lose 3 in arow to Portland, but if the team plays with the confidence it has all year,we should be able to win.I know this sounds cliche ,but I think if we find a way to win game 6 our fans and players will carry us for game seven.I dont think this team will lose four in a row

I feel all the frustration as well. We ran away with those first six games because we had

1. Great Offense
2. Great Defense
3. Great Goaltending

In games 1-6 Tuukka had two shutouts and never let in more then two goals. Then in his seventh game (Game 3)he lets in four goals?! That (as another poster suggested) surely had nothing to do with Aubin playing! That had to do with, "what happened to Tuukka and/or our defense?"

I truly thought that Scott Gordon would see that Tuukka was struggling after Sunday's game and put Jordan in since he's got more experience and I was so frustrated that he didn't.

I also can't believe (nor did I expect) that Providence is in a must-win situation either and it upsets me that we could be over this weekend instead of going further and further.

I'm a huge Tuukka fan as well, but it's time to take him out. It's the playoffs!

I would state

That Boston MGMT is calling the shots and they want Rask in there as he is the heir apparent so it would be a long shot that Sigalet appears this weekend.

Sad

May 8 2008, 1:06 PM

What you wrote is sad, but I know it's true. I think that it's pretty bad when SCOTT can't use who he wants when he's Providence's head coach. I'm all for Tuukka, but if he's struggling...? I also don't like the way Jordan's been treated as of late. I also know that's NOT because of our coaches.

I agree, but at the same time, I could see Scott pulling Tuukka if it gets out of hand. He will get the start tomorrow, but I think we will see him pulled if he is stuggling no matter what Boston wants. He has pulled Tuukka before and I don't see him hesitating in a possible elimination situation.

Yes

I agree. And if he's being pushed to play ... well, I won't get into it, but what about Kevin Regan? I know it's risk, but well, I just want to have faith in Tuukka and that he's gotten over any funk.

I also hope any lagging defense is already to give their best. We need every player playing and giving 100% tomorrow!
