P-BRUINS RELEASE KIRK MACDONALD

Forward Went Scoreless in Single Game for Providence

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 17th season in the American Hockey League, announced that they have released forward Kirk MacDonald from his Professional Tryout Agreement, originally signed on October 8, 2008. With the move, Providence has 24 players on its roster, including 13 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders.

MacDonald, 24, appeared in one game for the P-Bruins, going scoreless last Saturday night in a 3-2 overtime loss on the road against the Worcester Sharks. The third-year pro split the 2007-08 season between the AHL and ECHL with the Albany River Rats and Florida Everblades, respectively. MacDonald registered two points (g, a) in 11 contests with Albany in addition to 34 points (14g, 20a) in 43 contests for Florida. In his professional career, the undrafted product from Victoria, British Columbia, has 39 points (16g, 23a) in 67 games, along with three goals in 11 playoff contests.

Prior to turning pro, MacDonald played four seasons for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers. While in New York, the two-year R.P.I. captain recorded 103 points (47g, 56a) in 137 games.
