P-BRUINS, McDONALD'S ANNOUNCE JERSEY AUCTION

PROCEEDS TO GO TO RONALD McDONALD HOUSE

Providence, RI -- The Providence Bruins announced yesterday that they will auction of their 2008 pre-season jerseys on the team website, http://www.providencebruins.com, beginning Monday, October 20 at noon. The jerseys are the actual ones worn by the P-Bruins' players during the three 2008 pre-season games. The auction is available only on the P-Bruins' website, and will run through noon on Saturday, November 8. Net proceeds from the auction of the jerseys will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. The donations will be presented by the Providence Bruins and McDonald's to the Ronald McDonald House before the home game on Friday, November 14.

"The Ronald McDonald House of Providence provides programs that directly improve the health and well being of children and families. The support we are able to provide to families would be impossible without the support of our partners in the community," said Ronald McDonald House of Providence CEO/Executive Director Michael Fantom. "We are thrilled to be joining the Providence Bruins and celebrating a night on the ice."

"The Providence Bruins are proud to partner with McDonald's and the Ronald McDonald House for this jersey auction fundraising," said Providence Bruins COO Jeff Hagan. "The partnership we have with the Ronald McDonald House and the families they help is special to the team and our players."

The Ronald McDonald House provides a place for parents and families to stay when their children are very ill and receiving medical treatment at area hospitals. Studies show that children recover and thrive more quickly when they have continuous interaction with loved ones. 185 families have stayed at the Ronald McDonald House of Providence so far in 2008 and an additional 525 families enjoyed the comfort of the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Hasbro Children's Hospital. Without the services of the Ronald McDonald House, families would sleep in hospital chairs, in their cars or turn to local hotels, while already facing high medical bills, co-payments, time off work and meals away from home. The Ronald McDonald House of Providence estimates they have saved families a total of $485,000 in hotel and meal costs this year alone.

Fans who win a jersey through the auction will be contacted directly by the Providence Bruins. Fans will receive an email once they place a bid and should check back regularly to see if they are still winning the auction.

Great cause.

Raising money for charity is always a good thing. And I'd rather buy a jersey where the money goes to a good cause instead of right into the Bruins pockets. Looking at the jerseys, It looks like they will be cheap if you want one. Its too bad they are hard to look at.

I agree. I definitely prefer it when the sale of the jersey's go to a good cause. However, it still doesn't stop some of the dealers from getting several and then re-selling.

Talk about selling.. did you see our free Bobbleheads that were left over being sold for ten dollars?! That is outrageous! If they are left, then sell them for a few dollars. Geeze.

Just Noticed

I know.. fibro fog.. but I just noticed this is for the pre-season games. I wondering where other players were. Interesting that Johnny Boychuk's is already up to $300.00. It's the one I'd want if I had that kind of money. Others I'd want aren't there.. Marty Karsums, etc.
