P-Bruins subdued by 1st-place Pirates

PORTLAND, Maine The Providence Bruins lost to the first-place Portland Pirates, 5-2, last night at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
The P-Bruins got on the board at the 7:25 mark of the opening period. Martins Karsums scored his sixth after passes from Martin St. Pierre and Vladimir Sobotka.
Only 18 seconds later, at 7:43, the Pirates tied it. . Felix Schutz tipped the puck into the net for his third goal of the season.
The Pirates took their first lead of the game at the 6:45 mark of the second period. Aaron Slattengren netted his third goal of the season.
The Pirates took a 3-1 advantage at the 7:45 mark of the third period. Mark Mancari tallied his 11th goal.
The P-Bruins battled to within a goal at the 10:29 mark. Adam McQuaid took a shot from the right point and scored his first goal of the season.
Portland finished off the scoring with two late goals by Mathieu Darche.
Goalie Tuukka Rask stopped 30 shots for the P-Bruins while Adam Dennis made 27 saves for the Pirates. |
