Scratches/Injured: Peter Schaefer, Ryan Stokes, Jonathan Tremblay
A very frustrating game because Providence very easily could have won it. They play excellent in the first two periods, but I do have to say that Portland controlled the puck in the third period. Also in the second period, Portland's goalie made a save and another that one would make once in a life time. Right then I knew it was not going to be out night. I don't like to blame "circumstances", but things had been going on where Providence would miss the net or the puck would miss by a hair. Nothing was bouncing our way, but luck -- it was on Portland's side.
I'm not sure what happened when Portland scored the two fast goals in the second period since it was on the other side of the ice. That may have been THE turning point. I know it was for the fans, who had been so sure we were in charge after Providence went ahead 2-0.
Lots of good play, but Providence just didn't play hard enough in the third period. Not hard enough at all. Now Providence goes to second place. Maybe they won't feel so much pressure now.. They are mostly rookies.
