Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 17th season in the American Hockey League, announced their Clear Day roster this morning, consisting of the maximum two goaltenders and 20 skaters.
According to AHL bylaws, only the players listed on a team's Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remainder of the 2008-09 regular season and 2009 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of recall, injury or suspension. Teams may also add signed junior players or players on amateur tryout contracts after their respective junior or college seasons are complete.
The P-Bruins' Clear Day roster consists of goalies Tuukka Rask and Kevin Regan, forwards Byron Bitz, Zach Hamill, Jordan Knackstedt, Mikko Lehtonen, Milan Lucic, Ned Lukacevic, Brad Marchand, Matt Marquardt, Wacey Rabbit, Jeremy Reich, Martin St. Pierre, Peter Schaefer and Vladimir Sobotka, along with defensemen Andrew Bodnarchuk, Johnny Boychuk, Matt Hunwick, Adam McQuaid, Jeff Penner, Matt Stephenson and Ryan Stokes.
I was surprised to see that, too. I don't want to wish bad on Boston, but.. dang that would be fun!
We still need Tuukka to get his, total, act together and play like he's never played before and keep that up. Look at last year? He can't do that in the playoffs again!!
Now, I know that most times the Playoff roster looks so different, but I find it interesting that defenseman Matt Stephenson is on the roster and not year-long d-man Kevin Schaeffer. And as I figured with the two addictions, Jonathan Tremblay got left off.
