Providence Bruins coach Rob Murray said Wednesday that backup goalie Kevin Regan is out indefinately with a torn labrum in his hip.
Regan "might be able to finish the season,'' Murray said, if he can find the right treatment.
A torn labrum is the same injury that has plagued baseball players Mike Lowell and Alex Rodriguez.
In the meantime, Kevin Nastiuk has been recalled from Alaska of the ECHL to fill in for Regan. Nastiuk has had a couple of stints in Providence this season.
Regan's last game was a 2-0 loss in Manitoba on March 7. He has a 9-6-2 record with a 2.99 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage.
In other personnel moves, free-agent defenseman Victor Bartley is in Providence on an amateur tryout contract, said Murray
Bartley, 21, was captain of the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League this season. The Pats season ended Saturday.
A 6-foot, 195-pound right-shooting defenseman, Bartley scored 15 goals and 31 assists for 46 points with 97 penalty minutes for Regina.
"Hopefully I'll be able to impress them and get an NHL contract," Bartley told the Regina Leader-Post. "It's my life-long dream. All that was said is I have to go there, work hard, play good and hopefully good things will happen. Going into next season (the experience) would be huge, especially with maybe 10 or 12 games under my belt."

Murray also said that center Levi Nelson has been recalled from Reading of the ECHL. Nelson scored two goals and one assist for three points with 28 PIMs in 8 games for the Royals.
Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk, who has been out with an injury for a couple of weeks, should be ready to return for Friday's home game against Albany, according to Murray
