Bruins' Marchand to answer fans' questions Thursday
05/19/2009 9:00 AM

Providence Bruins forward Brad Marchand will enter the AHL Chat Room to answer fans questions on Thursday, May 21st. Marchand currently leads all AHL rookies with six goals and 13 points in 13 Calder Cup Playoff games for the Bruins.

Marchand, who turned 21 years old on May 11, was a third-round draft pick (71st overall) in 2006 by the Boston Bruins, and he ranked third on Providence with 59 points (18-41-59) during the 2008-09 regular season.

A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Marchands 59 regular-season points were good for second among all AHL rookies, and he was named the Reebok Edge/AHL Rookie of the Month for January after racking up 16 points and a plus-8 rating in 13 games for the Bruins that month.

Marchands six postseason goals are tops on the Bs, and his 13 points rank second behind Martin St. Pierres 14. Marchand has registered at least one point in 10 of Providences 13 playoff games to date, helping the Bruins reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2005.

Prior to turning pro, Marchand played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for Moncton, Val dOr, and Halifax.
