When a guy is on our roster, but he plays in Boston's playoffs, he is not required to play with Providence, but he can if he wants to. When Byron didn't get added to our roster after Boston finished up, I knew that he opted out. I felt a little bad that he chose to not play, but I also felt that our team has been great as they are and that fitting him in may have had it so that someone else that had been playing wouldn't have been able to. On the other hand I feel a tiny bit bad that he didn't want to help the team he began with, but that's his choice.
That is the part I loved about the year the P-Bruins won the Calder Cup -- both Landon Wilson and Cameron Mann played with Providence after the second round of Boston had finished because they had spent time in Providence and wanted to help. Shawn Bates was one of the players who chose not to (he was such a snob.. NOT saying Bryon is!). Boy were Landon and Cameron glad. So were we fans since they really contributed.
Anyway, that's the rules.. if they play, they are not obligated to come down. It's their choice. No one chose to come down. We have our team. I'm happy with it.
Thanks for letting us know. I figured that, if anyone, Byron would have come down. Now we know why. I guess the down and back up was his realizing he really couldn't play.
