That's about all I can say about tonight's game (and it goes along with Friday's as well).. just really annoying to have such an awesome first period and then see in get lost again.
I do admit that the big difference in tonight's game is that Providence got two goals in the first period and had the lead, but they didn't have control of the game and give it away like on Friday. And, as I look back, maybe the same thing happened on Friday.
Going into the playoffs, I had (as was the case with many of us) no idea how far we'd go. I was amazed and happy that Providence was in the playoff considering what a young team they were/are and how many rookies we have. I did mention to more then a few friends that if we got our of our division it would, "likely be all over because our division was the worst in the league". So, I'm not totally surprised to see the turn of events, but I am sad. I do hope that Providence can win one tomorrow and even another at Hershey even if it's meant to end here. I'd just like to see them give Hershey a bit more of a fight.
Huge kudos to Tuukka, Johnny Boychuk, Jeff Penner, Brad Marchand, Kirk MacDonald in particular for incredible play.
I couldn't agree more.... ACK... When we went up 2-0, it seemed like Hersey went into another gear, and blew past us.
We played most of 2nd and 3rd period in our zone, and seemed like we could not get the upper hand in either period.
What hurts, is that we thought it would be tough to get past our division, but after game one, and the first period of Game 3, we were so hopeful.
I think that we are undersized, and undertalented (as a team) with all the losses of players this year -- Bitz, Hunwick, Karsums, Lashoff, etc...., and it is the bane of minor league hockey to have these issues.
Good luck tomorrow to the team, and if it doesn't work out.... better hopes for 2009-2010

Hershey's team is huge and in much better condition. Last night was just another example of how our team totally runs out of gas. By the third period, Providence was totally fried. Hershey was buzzing around Rask from the middle of the second, right thru to the OT loss. Rask did all he could after being swarmed time after time. All we could do was barely get the puck out into the neutral zone. The game could have ended in regulation but one of the shots we had on an odd man rush rings off the left pipe with about a minute left. All we can do is think about what might have been.
Our guys have to be banged up, esp after the last two games. Sobotka got injured late in the 3rd period and never skated in the overtime. McQuaid laid down to block a shot and he took it right off the ribs.I was glad to see Ned Lukacevic out there.
It's all those things, but not only that, but as mentioned, the Providence Bruins are playing in the playoffs in the Conference Finals, and in reality, they had no right getting there, but hard play and sheer determination got them there, and I know we are all so very proud of them. However, they could get away with it in our division, but they don't have the manpower now. Hershey has the veterans, and Providence barely has veterans, and our top scoring line has changed all season long and even in the playoffs. It's rough when you have about two - three top defensemen.
Providence is able to give it all in the first twenty minutes and then gets tired.
I'm not at today's game because I can't push myself due to my illness (fibromyalgia), but I do hope they can win it. If not, I'm so very proud of Providence anyway.
