Worcester beats P-Bruins, 3-2, on McGinn goal in o.t.

PROVIDENCE Jamie McGinn scored at the 1:58 mark of overtime, giving the Worcester Sharks a 3-2 victory over the Providence Bruins on Friday night at the Dunkin Donuts Center.

The P-Bruins got goals from Jeff LoVecchio and Andy Wozniewski.

The Sharks opened the scoring at the 18:01 mark of the first period when Danny Groulx tallied his first goal of the season. Logan Couture and Dwight Helminen picked up the assists.

The P-Bruins tied the game at the 14:14 mark of the second period while shorthanded. LoVecchio stole the puck and scored on a breakaway, his third tally of the season.

Providence took its first lead of the game at the 19:32 mark. Mikko Lehtonen worked the puck out of the zone to Zach Hamill in the neutral zone. Hamill found Wozniewski along the boards. Wozniewski tossed the puck toward the net and it went in for his fifth goal of the season.

Worcester tied the game at 2-2 at the 7:42 mark of the third period. T.J. Trevelyan netted his third goal of the season while Steven Zalewski picked up an assist.

Groulx and Joe Callahan had the assists on McGinns game-winner.

Matt Dalton stopped 33 of 36 shots for the P-Bruins while Alex Stalock made 27 saves for the Sharks. The P-Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
