PROVIDENCE Jeff LoVecchio gave the Providence Bruins a 3-2 lead midway through the second period and they held on to defeat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin Donuts Center.
Trevor Smith gave the Sound Tigers a 1-0 advantage only 12 seconds into the opening period.
The P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 4:36 mark. Mikko Lehtonen had the puck in the neutral zone and worked it down the boards for Zach Hamill. He found Jeff Penner in the far faceoff circle and his shot resulted in his first goal of the season.

The P-Bruins made it 4-2 at the 14:35 mark of the third period. Penner held the puck in the neutral zone and fed it to Hamill. He skated in and took a shot on net and Knackstedt was right there to redirect it into the goal for his first tally of the season.
Bridgeports Pascal Morency scored with one second left in the game, while shorthanded.
Dany Sabourin stopped 37 of 40 shots for the P-Bruins, while Scott Munroe made 24 saves for the Sound Tigers.
Nice to see that they won, and nice to read Zach Hamil's name... do you know I just found out (FINALLY) who won when I posted this? Well, when I got to the forum I saw. That's a long time to not know!
But he didn't have a goal. Or at least according to how they were announced at the game and then I even looked on the ahl.com's game summary. He did have 3 assists. Goals were Penner, LoVecchio, Goulet and Knackstedt. I had to make sure I didn't miss something yesterday. LOL.
That is a long time to go without knowing who won the game.
Did anyone else think Pelletier (Ref) negatively affected the game?
November 2 2009, 5:51 PM
I was at the game, and was extremely upset that Pelletier was so quick with the whistle. For awhile I felt that he was purposely attempting to slow the game, and keep the flow of the hockey game going. Finally, it was a bit better by the third period, but the first two periods, it was out of control. 9 penalties in first period alone
8 power plays each team...
I think Pelletier is surpassing Koharski as the worst ref in AHL (at least of those we see)
Yes!!! The first period lasted like 45 mins. It was the slowest period ever. Pelletier was not happy unless there was someone in the box. There were quite a few people commenting on it at the game
Yes, that was a long time to wait.. and almost 24 hours is (for me) a looong time to use a computer again!
Like I said, Zach is getting back into it, and assists mean a lot. Before Sunday's game (oh when life was pleasant and I had a computer... aggggh!!) Rob Murray was saying that the guys got an (well, how ever you can rip 'em one.. LOL) *ss,, er,,, earful on Saturday night following the game. He told them that they are becoming too conformable and guys are coming back from injury and he can always call up guys from the ECHL. Hartford did it after they got bounced 6-0 and then they trounced on us. Anyway.. I hope it keeps up.
I also thank you that I can can a text message of the score after period for the games I'm not at.... most everything but Friday.
