Well finally a race weekend without the threat of rain!
It turned out to be quite an exciting night.
Ray went out in hot laps and he looked quite comfortable and fast.
He started in the last row of his heat race and bolted for the front. He made his way into 2nd and was following Tracy Miller. We was trying to run every line on the track. On the last lap coming out of turn #4 he passed Tracy and took the heat win. It was one of the most exciting heat races I've seen in a while.
He then started 12th in the feature. On the first lap a couple of cars got together ahead of him in turn #2 but he was able to get passed them without a scratch. He then began his charge to the front. By lap 6 he had taken over the lead from Ed Stimely and began to gain some distance from him. Around lap 12 or 13 he ran it in a little high and tagged the wall in turns 3&4. You could hear the entire grandstand go "uuhhh" but he bounced off then wall like a bullet and kept the lead even though Eddie caught right up to him.
He then led the remaining laps to take the 30 lap main event. There was a lot of pressure on Ray for this win. He really wanted this one, being that this is where he started racing and there were so many friends & family there. It was a wonderful night and a great win! Here are the Results from the entire night.
