We are a group of friends who have come together because we share the common bond of caring for someone who has Trisomy 21. We are here to share therapy tips, medical issues, laughs, accomplishments and yes, even frustrations. We embrace what Trisomy 21 has brought into our lives. We feel that it has taught us to appreciate the true meaning of life. We count our children as blessings! We will fiercely protect them and fight for their lives to be valued just as all other peoples' are. We share our pictures, our stories and our hearts here not only to provide friendship and support for each other, but also in the hopes that others will open their minds and their hearts to our unique children and, in turn, make a better world for everyone.

Just diagnosed with Celiac Disease

Anyone here have any experience with this?? We just found out of Friday that Carter's test for Celiac Disease came back positive...I am not really surprised but MAN am I ticked off at the docs!! Carter has been vomiting since the day he was born, not to mention diarrhea and constipation constantly. So you would think that the doctors would have run this test at a much earlier date, right? HA! The ironic thing is that I probably have it too!! I went through TONS of testing some time ago for my intestinal issues, and was eventually "diagnosed" with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Nobody even mentioned Celiac to me...I didn't even know it existed until two days ago! I think that I have had a lot of questions answered by this!!

Anywho, does anyone else's little ones have this? How difficult is it to adjust to? After doing a lot of research it seems like this is going to be a HUGE lifestyle change for us! Is it as hard as it seems?

I know that Carter's blood test could have come back much worse than it did, so for that I am extremely greatful! But I really wasn't expecting this, and knowing that there is going to be yet another specialist and even ore appointments is somewhat daunting, to say the least! I hope I don't sound like I am whining, as we have been really blessed so far (knocking on wood) with Carter's health.

I just pretty much wanted to know how this has affected other families...

Thank you all so much!!
