Got a good tip that the biography channel has a bio on the good doc on now. for those in other zones it airs at 9. now i just wish my cable would come in clean, those bastards have every channel crystal clear but when the good docs on i get choppy crap.
jsut watched most of hunter's bio, not too bad. after the bio there was a doc on the hell's angels which featured hunter. worth checking out. i just hope that your cable works a hell of a lot better than mine.
I just saw the bio also, but it seemed from more of a view of the outside looking in. The Breakfast with hunter, and the Fear and Loathing Criterion were much better at animating his character and thoughts....more inside looking out. The bio had a sort of a mainstream "look at this freak journalist washed up from the drug culture" feel to it. But, learned some bits and pieces that aren't in the books. So, few will fully understand his greatness. I like it that way. That's how the underground works.
i agree, the bio was a differant more main stream look. immediatley after that and the hells angels documentary i cracked a bottle of jameson and a bottle of bacardi and watched "breakfast". what a journey that was. i think that in this haze of lethargy and alcohol with nothing but nicotine and emotion keeping me running i finally came to grips with what fear and loathing really is. juans words were as eloquent and poingent as his fathers on the breakfeast dvd. i am exhausted now and must rest. all i can say is that i miss hunter, i miss him very much. i hope the good doc is looking down at us, or up at us or even sideways and hoping that he's still pulling for us.my generation better wise up or else we are all going to be doomed. i dont know how anyone that read a single passage of any of his works could not learn and take action. i'm rambling now. one last drink and off to visit the cousin of death.
slainte,
paul
ps Hunter we might just be ****ed without u
You are an idiot. I bet you think you are pretty smart though, eh? Thompson was a ****ing coward for killing himself; I hate him for it. My advice to you, sir, is to wake your drunken ass up. Hunter was a good man in the long run... but he is dead now, and it's about time you get over it.
