Looking for Race Boat

I am looking to find a resstoration project but i am very new to this sport. I have no idea of most things pertaining to race boats but i do know that i want a vintage hydro to restore and then take to vintage events. Anything you could share would be helpful. I am retired and disabled and on a limited income so i would appreciate a less costly boat to start with. Also I have very little experience in the operation of a boat and some of the terminology. I am located just north of Wheeling WV on the ohio river. Thanks in advance for all the help.

This is an outboard former raceboat probably qualifies as vintage.
with a little work it can be returned to it's original look and you can use it every day. For $1600 it's a bargain.
