We are looking for either an 850 or a 145 to restore for my 21 year old son to play with. We live in the Tacoma, Wa area and would love to restore one of the local boats from the late 70's to the early 80'. IE. a Campbell, Kelson or Jones, We just completed the upgrade of Fred Sanchez's original Kelson 145 with a CLS capsule that my wife is racing now as a 2.5 liter stock. you can visit the site at www.teamtoothpickracing.com Thanks,

Shawn

Old 135/136 ci Hydro

July 2 2007, 9:41 PM

I have a restoration friend up in Stanwood that has probably a late 50's vintage 135/136 hull that needs major restoration. It is hanging from the overhead of his shop. It has the Colcock/Hickling rolled up side-style aft of the sponsons (similar in style to a 225 sitting in the Hydro & Raceboat Museum in Kent). If you are still looking for one drop me an e-mail and I will call him to see if he will sell it -- I don't see why he would not. Randy, Gig Harbor.

Stanwood

July 12 2007, 12:45 AM

The boat is at Warm Beach just a couple of miles south of Stanwood Wa. It was built in the mid to late 50's or very early 60's. It is a 136 and it does look like a Hickling hull. It would be a great project boat. Good Luck,Doug

Hickling Plans

July 12 2007, 11:16 PM

Chuck Hickling is gone, so is Jack Colcock and several other great designers and builders. But Ron Jones is still around. How about each and every time we acquire "free Jones plans" we pay the man his dues. We are all aware of his contributions to this sport.

I agree........

July 13 2007, 11:21 AM

I couldn't agree more, Doug.

Ron Jones Sr. is always willing to help out with ideas, information and technical help whenever he is asked. BUT.......he needs to make a living like each and every one of the rest of us.

Later.......Bob
