Billy Cousins has decided to sell his Allison aircraft engine he originally had intended to put in an unlimited boat back in the 70's. As far as I know, it has never been ran in a boat before. I could not get a good picture of the name plate but here is some information from it:
Air Corps Model: V-1710-55
Air Corps No.: AF42-32854
MFRS. No.: 17127
Contract No.: W535AC21623
Engine Spec. No.: 146-C
Accepted: 12-9-42
Prop. Rotation: Left Hand
Prop. Gear Ratio: 2:1
Comp. Ratio: 6.65:1
Blower Ratio: 7.48:1
Impeller Diameter: 9.5
Let me know and I can get some pictures emailed to you. For additional technical information, contact Billy directly at (502)255-3848. Be patient, he is rarely in the house, always in the garage.
Hello David,
is the Allison marinised (watercoiled manifolds, gearbox or v - drive) or is it still the Aircraft engine?
Have You informations about the price?
I'm thankful for any information and if possible pictures of the engine.
Best regards

Greeting Torsten,
The engine is still set up for an aircraft. It has never been run in a boat. Billy is asking $15,000.00 for it but will listen to all offers.
I am not too familiar with the history or more technical specifications about the engine. You would really need to speak with Billy (1-502-255-3848) for that information. The engine is located at his house near Bedford, Kentucky.
Unfortunately, I am going out of town this afternoon and won't be near a computer again until Wednesday, 10/17. I will try to get some pictures to you before I leave.

Allison SOLD
October 17 2007, 11:42 AM
Just to let everyone know, the Allison engine has been sold. Thanks for all the responses from interested parties. There were many folks inquiring and I did not get a chance to respond to everyone before it was already sold. I was unaware of the overseas market for these engines (Germany, Italy, etc.). However, it has stayed in the U.S.
