i have just recently aquired this vintage hydro that i want to sell. the owner i got it from was the original owner and came out of southern california .it is all wood construction and is in realatively good original condition. the old guy told me it was from 1958 and he raced it until the early 1970's. it seams to be all original with a dodge v 8 motor .it has always been stored in a warehouse and was kept out of the weather. i believe that it is a e class sit down cockpit model and i will be happy to answer your questions and send pictures as needed e mail thisismikesue@yahoo.com and tel.# IS 530-277-8099

E-31 history, from Bob Silva

March 18 2008, 7:11 AM

This is an update on the E-31 from Bob Silva...
The E-31, "Miss Angelee" was originally owned by Howard Iverson of Hollywood, CA and was usually driven by Ron Armstrong during the late 1960s. It ran pretty good, winning its share of races (posted 69.498 mph on a 1 2/3 mile course). She was sold to Dave Brodhead of Long Beach in the early 1970's. He renamed the boat "Wooden Girl". Last I saw it run was about 1973, then Brodhead sold it and bought a Jones cabover. I'm not sure of the design, but she sure looks like a Chuck Hickling hull.

I think you are correct, Bob, Regatta programs from that era list the E-31 as a Hickling. Nice boat.
