144 Falcon Spark Plugs needed

The S-07 needs a spare set of plugs before Rocky Fork and they appear to be the hardest set to find. Even Eric Heoft, our resident internet guru is coming up rather dry. Does anyone have access to or know of a good resource for Falcon 6 cylinder plugs? (Champion number SF-794)

Cross Reference to others

Kevin,

I used a cross reference guide and it shows the 794 being a 14mm .750" Reach 5/8" Hex plug. Common use is BB Chev and Chrysler Hemi.

The Autolite equiv is AR3911.

Phil,

That sounds incorrect to me. My recolection is the Falcon had 18mm plugs. We had some out in the shop from racing 145's but I canned most of that stuff in 2001. NOS rockers, cams, distributors etc. Pretty stupid but at the time it had been there for 30 years and I figured I would never use it. I will double check to see if there are any plugs left. If thewre were more than likely Murdock ended up with them.......

Kevin,

I have a guy calling Champion tomorrow morning. I'll yell if he comes up with anything. We have nothing local.

Falcon Plugs

No luck on the Falcon stuff, I pitched it all. I did find 10 new L-61Y Buick plugs from Sherman's Tiger back in the day but that will do you no good.......

Champion plugs

Kevin,
Thanks for the help but you led them on a wild goose chase.
The plugs that are in the Falcon are Champion F-79-Y. We need
something in the same range.
Thanks everybody. If anyone is running a vintage Falcon, what
plugs are you running?

Falcon Plugs

Rob,

Had my brother in law do some looking in his older Mitchell engine books. The 144 was used in the Falcon from 63 to early 66. They were used again in the 260 Mustang motors. They are BF-82, the gap is 34, they are still available.

Something crossed-up

July 26 2009, 8:50 AM

Kevin, ....... you have some numbers transposed or something coz the falcon engine takes a 18mm plug [unless it has the california head{junk}]. When my DAD died I got all the stuff out of his shop. I am pretty sure I got some champion racing plugs, left over from S-13 Tailfeather. IF you still need them 4 bucks each will take all I have [that's what they cost in 1974]

GOOD NUMBER

That sounds more like it........ I am pretty sure the ones I have are F-81Y with the yellow wrapper [racing plugs]. Maybe , 8 or 10 of them, maybe some slightly used ones [included free].
