Hello fellow OO-fans!
I managed to get hold of a copy of 1991 Perrett demos featuring John on guitar.
Have anyone else heard those?
Great stuff, his voice sounds great, the songs are high quality, and it's
interesting to hear John play the leads on the tracks that later appeared
on "Woke up sticky", such as The shame of being you. An official
realease in the future perhaps?

Nope, never heard them. How many/what tracks are on it? Is it sourced from a CD-R/DAT or a cassette?

I don't know what they're sourced from,
it could be a casette. There's not much hiss,
but you can hear it's not the first generation.
Great sound anyway though! Better than those radio sessions
from '94 -'96 that have circulted

Tracks are from the first 2 demo sessions with Perry
and include Baby don't talk, Shame of being you (2 versions),
That's the way it goes (3 versions), Dead man walking, Wildlife,
Place of safety, Happy families, World in chains, Twilight world.

Peter,

Would love to do a trade. I have an extensive collection of Perrett related items, some of which you'll be hard pushed to find anywhere else. Please email if you're interested in a trade. However did you get them? I tied getting a copy of them from John Perry but he wouldn't trade. Shame.

Cheers,

Martin

Could be wrong but I think those demos are actually from 1990? According to my now out of date discography details are as follows:

Demos with John Perry /2-3 / 90
Wildlife Park / Twilight World / Baby Don't Talk / That's The Way It Goes

Notes: Recorded at Ruxley Manor on the Kent borders between mid February and March 12th. Sparse recordings using a drum machine and simple guitar overdubs. The last track is a re-visitation of an old England's Glory track originally called Shattered Illusions [see England’s Glory EMI session 8/3/73]. John Perry has also mentioned the titles of some other demo tracks done with Perrett sometime between 1990 and 1992 although the exact dates are uncertain. The tracks were: Keep It Out Of Sight, Like A Dog and Deep Freeze.

Demos With John Perry / /90
Place Of Safety / Happy Families / Dead Man Walking / World In Chains

Notes: The second session recorded again at Ruxley Manor with John Perry and with later additional overdubs by Perrett on his own and also using Koulla Kakoulli for backing vocals.

Cheers again,

Martin

Hi. I am amazed that what sounds like good quality, and unheard stuff is out there. Any chance of a huge fan like me getting hold of this? What does it take?

Any way of finding copies of the demos in North America? Any way of swapping something for a copy? Let me know.

Could be very interesting? Can you give some more details of contents and where it came from? Might be interested in a trade.

On the subject of "wants" re: Perrett and Only Ones recordings, I was wondering whether anyone had a copy of the Only Ones Mannos Studios, 2 June 1977 soundboard, either as mp3 or for trade.
Cheers, Steve

Ummm no. Peter has enjoyed about 64000000000 kilos of crack since recording those demos and as such he's medically incapable of doing much more than eating dinner, having a shit and wiping his own arse (hopefully).

Do what most other sensible OO fans have done and find other bands to follow.
