Left work early to drive down and vote on tuesday afternoon. Had a few extra hours so I deceided to jump in at the west side of Mt. Sinai. Water was very clear 20+ feet and pretty cold. Didn't see much life, a few bergalls and some small blacks. Dove for about an hour, ended up seeing a few more fish when the tide started going out. Most fish were out in the open bottom towards the channel. Shot a 15" for dinner and whiffed on a halemary shot at a 3-4 lb fish. Saw one fish close to 5 lbs but it was very elusive. It seems that mostly everything has gone deeper over the last 2 weeks. Two weeks ago a few of us had 9-10 fish total within 45 minutes at that spot. I think I'm done for the season, its back to the rod and reel until spring. I think I'm going to hunt this entire weekend.
Has anybody dove the northshore before may 1st for blackfish? Are they in the shallows yet during that time of year? I'm excited to get back in during the spring. Next summer I'm hoping to target bass and also head back up to RI to shoot togs in the summer.
Matt have you stuck any nice bucks yet this season? I'm still hoping for my first one this weekend. I've had numerous shots on does but I've been passing them up for a chance at one of the bucks I've been seeing.
