Two killed in Valley

SRINAGAR, Jan 17: Two persons were killed in separate militancy related incidents in Kashmir valley during the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, the body of one of the two militants killed in the fidayeen attack on the passport office was sent to his ancestral village in Handwara.
According to police , some unidentified gunmen hijacked a minibus JK01F-3150 along with its driver Sajad Ahmad Ganai resident of Kulgam and conductor Ghulam Mohi-ud-din resident of Sangua Kulgam.
The spokesman added that the gunmen later shot dead Ghulam Mohi-ud-din near Dasan Yaripora. He added that the slain was a surrendered militant and that the minibus was also set on fire by the militants.
The spokesman said that the militants shot dead Mushtaq Ahmad Lone son of Ali Mohammad Lone resident of Nadihal-Panzla in Baramulla district. Reports say that the slain was a surrendered militant and he was associated with the Ikhwan force.
The spokesman said that the security forces during checking of the vehicles at Sopore intercepted a Maruti Car and apprehended three persons from whom an amount of Rs 3,95,125 was recovered. He claimed that the apprehended persons were involved in the militancy related incidents and were acting as couriers of arms and money.
The spokesman said that a case has been registered in the concerned police station against the arrested persons.
Meanwhile, a local news agency, KNS, reported that the body of a militant identified as Firdous Ahmad Lone was sent to his ancestral village Baki Akhar in Handwara area of the Kupwara district. Firdous was killed in the 25 hour long Fidayeen attack on the passport office in Srinagar on January 16.
Meanwhile, a local news agency, CNS, quoting police sources reported that two grenades which were recovered from the compound of the passport office were defused.
