HM commander shot dead

SRINAGAR, Feb 4: A district commander of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) was killed in an encounter with the security forces at Reshi Bazar in Anantnag.
According to police, the militant identified as Abdul Aziz Khan alias Ali alias Babar resident of house no 156, sector 11 Currengi town was killed in a relatiatory action after he fired upon a police party near Reshi Bazar. Police claimed that a pistol was recovered from the possession of the slain militant.
Police said that an IED fitted in a pressure cooker exploded in the compound of the house of Jameela Akhtar at Chatpora in Pulwama district but no one was injured in the incident. Jameela has been declared unopposed winner from the Pulwama district on the ticket of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the ongoing civic polls.
Police said that two AK rifles, four magazines and two mobile phones were recovered from the possession of the two militants killed in an encounter with the security forces at Warpora-Sopore on Thursday night.
Security forces recovered seven RPGs, 38 hand grenades and 19 UBGLs from a forest area of Namblan Sheeri in Baramulla district, police said.
