Diet now a Kapuso

FLASH: Diether Diet Ocampo (photo) has jumped ober da bakod from being Kapamilya to being Kapuso. Last Monday night, Diet signed a maximum four-year contract with GMA Network.

A GMA DPA said that Diet will do Koreanovela adaptations. His first project is All About Eve with Iza Calzado, Sunshine Dizon, Jean Garcia, Eula Valdez and Richard Gomez.

Before signing up with GMA, Diet very kindly informed his bosses at ABS-CBN, the studio that discovered him and groomed him as member of Star Circle. His last project for ABS-CBN was the just-concluded soap Iisa Pa Lamang with Susan Roces, Gabby Concepcion and Claudine Barretto.

He will also do movies for GMA Films, the networks sister company, and hosting jobs.

Coming on the heels of Kapuso Karylle turning Kapamilya, Diets move to GMA has long been the subject of a persistent rumor.

*Waaaaah! Bakit nya iniwan si Tintin sa ABS?!

Being a Diet-Tin fan this really saddens me...it may be a career move on Diet's part but I will surely miss seeing him in Kapamilya shows. I do believe that he has been given good projects..his last show "Iisa Pa Lamang" made him shine as an actor...whatever his goals are for his career I wish him the best, hopefully he won't end up in the likes of Marvin Agustin who's now typecast in character roles...i think that he is a welcome addition in GMA who is short of good actors of leading man status.

The sad part is this would finally mean an end to a Diet Tin project in the future, though its been a long time since they last did a project together, looks like that was it.

My last and fervent wish is that may this move on Diet's part not lead him and Tin further apart since they will now work on rival networks, I'm sure that there would be new working partners for both (with Tin and Echo's teleserye in the works, not to forget Oyo and TJ) and this would either stir rumors, speculations or God knows what. I still hold on to the faith that they would still be the same couple who professes their love for each other no matter what the odds are.

I wish Diet well with his career in his new home. I also wish Tin well in her comeback with Echo. May they both succeed in their respective careers without outgrowing the special feeling they have for each other.

To all the Diet Tin followers, lets continue supporting them and pray that in the end, their love for each other would still prevail.

sobrang naging loyal si diet sa abs for so many years and if kinagat ni diet ang offer ng gma then its an offer that diet could not refuse.



GMA has been trying to lure diet to their station last year pa ata pero talagang pinaiiral ni diet ang loyalty sa abs. The character of mark anthony fernandez with regine velasquez (forgot the show kasi di ako ganon nanonood ng kapuso shows)was first offered to him pero tinanggihan niya coz of loyalty. MAraming opportunities na tinatanggihan coz of loyalty.



Inisip siguro ni diet na he is not getting any younger. Lets face it nagiging masikip na ang mundo ng showbiz with so many wanabees na walang karapatan ang gustong mag artista. Hindi na kailangan banggitin kung sino sino pa mga yun.

I share the same sentiment, Diet deserves a good break kasi ang mga kasabay nya nandun na lahat sa peak, with Echo coming back and John Lloyd and Sam Milby as the new favorites...hopefully maging magandang opportunity ito for Diet...huwag lang sya sana i loveteam oh please lang!!! He is too old for that, gaya ng ginagawa nila kay Mark Anthony....puwede ibahin ang style kay Diet...and we all know that he only has Tin in his heart...hala...umariba na ko ulit...ciao!

totoo na ba ito??? for me sana hindi!!!! baka tuluyan nang mawalan ng pag-asa sina Tin and Diet. Lalo nang napapalapit si Tin kay Oyo. Nakakalungkot lang......

I truly wish the best for Diet and hopefully, this career move will hone his acting ability further, whether as leading man or as a character actor. He has always given his best to whatever role is given to him, whether a cameo role or a lead role. I never missed a single episode of IPL because his role was not only demanding but credible. I hope and pray that his acting in that teleserye will be given recognition he deserves. Even his cameo role in LOBO was unforgettable. My only regret to this move is that I will be missing him in the ABS-CBN NOW scenario as I don't have GMA. I don't even subscribe to TFC because I don't have the luxury of time to watch TV. I prefer my computer as I can watch anytime, at my own time and not miss a single episode. My consolation is that I can go to the ARCHIVES and look for his shows, like I am now enjoying TV Classics' Pangako Sa Yo Book 2. This way I can still watch Tin everyday. As for Diet's personal life, I believe that if he and Tin truly love each other as I believe they did, they will find a way to be together again, they will be able to forgive whatever shortcomings they had and the hurts they experienced. True love will always find its way - if not, then c'est le vie, life goes on!!!!!!

Diettiners, let us be strong, and keep the faith! A Happy Thanksgiving to each and everyone and let us be grateful for the wonderful friendship we have found and nurtured in Diet and Tin's MB. We have been blessed and we pray for blessings to continue not only this coming Yuletide season but the coming New Year. Remember we have each other, let us NEVER forget that!

Feel ko lang na hindi lang career move itong paglipat ni Diet. Siguro pagod na rin siya sa pagiging "robot" sa abs. Masyadong hawak ng abs ang personal life nila and feel ko pagod na siya sa systema nila. It won't be long na baka lumipat din si Tin kasi nabalita rin lately na lilipat siya sa gma. After ng balita, agad nating narinig na tuloy na ang MMK nila ni Echo. The series will reportedly co-star him with Richard Gomez.

Diethers four-year contract with GMA 7 is allegedly guaranteed. That means whether he has a project or not, he will be paid the agreed amount stipulated in the contract.

And guess how much is the guaranteed amount he will reportedly be paid?

P35M. Yes, P35 million.

Having known Diet, the transfer to GMA is a decision he made after a serious thought. I'm sure he went thru a long process, too and would not leave the station that honed his talent as one of the good actors today with ungrateful heart. It is to ABS' pride that they made Diet what he is now.


I cannot be any less happy for his decision. Someone as good as Diet should only spread his wings and fly high. And I pressume that's the direction he's looking at and no other.

The persistent rumor before of Diet transferring to GMA has now come to realization.

I think Diet's decision to transfer was not that easy, considering his tenure and unquestionable loyalty to Kapamilya which we all know. His new undertakings with GMA will surely be another milestone for Diet, being known for his versatility and a polished actor.

It is a win-win situation for both Diet and GMA. Both will gain with the partnership.

I am giving up TFC, now that diet has moved to GMA. Malas lang ng ABS hindi nila pinahalagan ang pagiging loyal ni Diet sa ABS. They will be sorry. Tin might even move to GMA, which I am reall praying for. I will follow diet at GMA, in that case, I will be able to watch him more often. I am just sad because Tin is still at ABS. I sincerely hope that whatever love they have for each other will not cease. Maraming temptations diyan and I hope they are still together.Diet I am really happy for you. MANILA, Philippines(UPDATE 2) Actor Diether Ocampo will transfer to GMA 7, a top executive of the network confirmed to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Wilma Galvante, GMA 7 Senior Vice President for Entertainment, made the confirmation as reports broke out Wednesday on yet another transfer of an ABS-CBN talent to the GMA 7 roster.

According to Galvante, Ocampo signed a long term contract with GMA 7 and would appear in the networks primetime shows, reportedly the much-awaited Philippine TV adaptation of the hit Korean series, All About Eve, which is set to hit the TV screens next year.

She added the network did not pirate Ocampo because when he signed the GMA 7 contract, he introduced himself as an independent artist.

Ocampo follows several homegrown ABS-CBN talents who have jumped ship to the rival network. They include Heart Evangelista, Paolo Contis, Jolina Magdangal, Dennis Trillo, Camille Prats, Marvin Agustin, Jean Garcia, Eula Valdez, Eugene Domingo, Patrick Garcia, Pauleen Luna, Julia Clarete, Michelle Madrigal, and Richard Gomez.

For his part, Ocampo responded to an Inquirer SMS query about his transfer to GMA 7 by saying: Merry Christmas.

For thirtheen years, naging tahanan ni Diether Ocampo ang ABS-CBN mula nang magsimula ito bilang homegrown talent ng Star Magic na dati'y TalentCenter ang tawag. Kasabayan niya ang ilan sa mga malalaking pangalan ngayon sa mundo ng showbiz gaya ng mga kasamahan niya sa The Hunks na sina Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, Carlos Agassi and Bernard Palanca. In fact, Batch 2 ng Star Circle kasama si Diet kaya masasabi talagang pioneer siya ng naturang brood of talents.


Unang movie appearance ni Diet ang pelikulang Calvento Files noong 1997. Sa aming pagkakaalam, naka-labing dalawang teleserye na si Diether Ocampo for ABSCBN. To the point na lagi silang nag-gygym at ang pinakahuli, pareho silang nag-enroll sa UP. Mukhang binakuran na talaga ni Oyo si Tintin at wala na talagang chance na maging sila ni Diet. I think Diet is still in love with Kristine pero yung paglipat niya sa Channel 7 means di na siya umaasa. Malungkot because I want him to stay in the best network and of course magkaroon ng kahit konting pag-asa na sila pa rin in the end. Pero ngayon palabo na ng palabo. Haaaay life!

when i heard the shocking news it sadden me.i still have an aftershock of what he made! we all wonder why? there's so many reason but the truth will come out soon...lets wait for it. anyway im concern to diet if he will be given a good acting job, exposure etc. the way abs gave to him not only in career but in his foundation, music etc..
im not quiet sure maybe they will make a buzz linking him again to pauleen luna! for his transfer.or maybe they release this to cover up dingdong-marian issue!

I must admit, I too am saddened by this turn of events.
For those who know me and still remember me on this MB, I was one of those avid Diettiners when they have just began to form the tandem. I still am, though there have been many changes.
Anyway, I could not still picture Diet being a GMA star, he's always been an ABS-CBN figure.
Because of his transfer, I may be able to watch him as often as I do now coz I don't watch GMA's shows. It's just preference I guess. I don't like their shows.
THeir sets are too colorful and their teleseryes too dry.
I will miss Diet for sure...Hope he'll do great there.

If this is true that diet has not signed a contract and hdaving second thoughts, then he is not sure whether he is moving out or not. Here is hoping that ABS will look after him. he had been a loyal employee of ABS. But if there is project lined out for him, it is about time to move on. Meaning ABS doesnt care anymore. Diet is a good actor,very kind and loyal, why not keep him in ABS? There are few actors who loyal and he is one them. But don'tleave him in the dark.

Diether Ocampo is still a contract artist.

According to a short statement provided the Philippine Daily Inquirer, ABS-CBN stressed that Ocampo remained an artist of its talent arm Star Magic and said the network was awaiting a final decision from the actor on transferring to rival network GMA 7.

Ocampos camp reportedly denied that the actor had already signed a contract with GMA 7, contrary to the Kapuso networks claim of an initialed long term agreement.

The actor is a 13-year talent of ABS-CBN, where he is one of the networks premiere actors both in its film and television productions.

He last appeared in the recently concluded ABS-CBN drama Iisa Pa Lamang, opposite Claudine Barretto and Gabby Concepcion.

Ngayong araw pa lang daw malalaman kung tuloy na ang pagpirma ng kontrata ni Diether Ocampo sa GMA 7. Kasi pala, hindi pa naman nakakapirma ang aktor ng kontrata at nang mag-leak ang tungkol sa kanyang pagiging Kapuso sana, bigla raw napaisip ang aktor. Parang teka lang, say daw ng aktor, bakit biglang may ganun agad kuwento samantalang may agreement supposed ly daw na wala munang lalabas habang hin di pa naka kapirma ng kontrata sabi ng isang source na nakausap si Diether.

Maging ang dati niyang talent management na nag-alaga sa kanya ng mahabang taon, ang Star Magic, ay ngayong araw pa lang din daw maglalabas ng official statement tungkol sa isyu.

Isa sa mga original na miyembro ng Star Magic si Diether. Kasama siya sa Batch 2 ng Star Circle na inilunsad noon.

Pero matagal na raw talaga itong walang kontrata sa nasabing talent management arm ng ABS-CBN. Taon na raw ang binibilang simula nang mag-expire ang contract niya rito. Pero technically, ang Star Magic pa rin ang nagha-handle sa kanya pag may mga project sa ABS-CBN. Verbal agreement lang daw ang nangyayari pero nag-uusap naman sila ni Mr. Johnny Manahan. Sa katunayan, pormal na nagpaalam si Diether na may nagaganap na usapan sa pagitan nila ng GMA 7.

Ayon sa source, walang samaan ng loob sa pag-alis ni Diether sa Kapamilya Network, yun ay kung matutuloy ang pirmahan ng kontrata ngayong araw contrary sa mga naglabasang kuwento tungkol sa paglipat nga niya.

Pero hindi naman daw siya pinigilan ng Star Magic nang magpaalam dahil prerogative naman ito ng kanilang mga artista lalo na ngat wala itong kontrata sa kanila.

Matagal-tagal na ring walang trabaho si Diether bago ang huling programa niyang Iisa Pa Lamang. Bago yun, kasama siya sa Maligno na ilang linggo lang sa ere napanood.

Kung tutuusin, kung pipirma siya ng kontrata sa GMA 7, makakaigi sa career niya. Pero hindi ito magandang balita para sa mga Kapuso actors dahil guaranteed contract ang ibinibigay kay Diether na hindi karaniwang nararanasan ng maraming Kapuso stars.

Sa ABS-CBN nag-umpisa ang guaranteed contract - pero pawang malalaking artista lang ang may ganito kagandang kontrata na kahit walang trabaho, kumikita. Kasama sa may ganitong kontrata si Dolphy at malalaki pang artista nila. Pero sa GMA iilan lang daw ang ganito ang offer kaya maraming nagtataasan ang kilay sa offer kay Diet samantalang sa ABS-CBN ay tinalbugan na ang career ni Diether nila Piolo Pascual, Sam Milby etc.

Pero hindi sigurado ng source kung nag-offer ang GMA o kung si Diether ang nagbigay ng signal na gusto niyang lumipat.

Anyway, mapapaisip ka nga naman kung bakit guaranteed contract ang ibinigay ng GMA 7 kay Diether. Pero alam kaya ng GMA na may isa silang home grown actor na any moment ay magiging Kapamilya na?

PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) received a very short text message from Rikka Dylim, ABS-CBN Star Magic's publicity manager, earlier today, November 21, regarding the reported transfer of Diether Ocampo to GMA-7.

In the said text message, Rikka said: "Diet remains in Star Magic. We trust he will make the right choice."

Rikka added that Star Magic, who is handling the career of Diether, "will issue a statement in due time."

It should be recalled that the news about ABS-CBN artist Diether's alleged transfer to the Kapuso network broke out last Wednesday, November 19. According to a report, Diether already signed a "maximum of four-year contract" with GMA-7 last Monday, November 17. (CLICK here to read related story.)

When several entertainment writers tried to get a confirmation from Diether about his reported transfer, his common reply through text was "Merry Christmas." He was also not answering phone calls.

PEP also asked Ms. Wilma Galvante, GMA-7's SVP for Entertainment TV, if Diether is really transferring to their network. Her short reply to our text message was: "Let Diether make his own announcements soon."

But in another report by a daily broadsheet, Ms. Galvante confirmed that Diether is indeed moving to the Kapuso network.

PEP has gathered from several sources that Diether is still in the process of talking to Star Magic and his home network, ABS-CBN. Although, according to these sources, he has already made the decision to jump ship to GMA-7.

But we won't be surprised if ever Diether changes his mind and be convinced to stay with ABS-CBN. After all, Diether started his showbiz career in the Kapamilya network as member of Star Circle Batch 2 thirteen years ago.

Actor Diether Ocampos alleged network switch is the hot topic in the entertainment scene today. As a talent of ABS-CBN Star Magic for 13 years, his friends in the industry could not help but comment on the issue.


Coverboy Jake Cuenca says he has high regard for Diet as an original member of The Hunks. Diether really acts as a role model for us young actors. Siyempre us Coverboys look up to The Hunks.


Billy Crawford, who has also jumped shipped from another network, said that all Diether can do now is be happy wherever he may choose to be. Enjoy lang siya. Well always be here as friends anyway.


John Prats has the same sentiments with Billy. John has also had a dilemma like Diets a few years back. Kung saan siya happy (dun siya).


John Lloyd Cruz, on the other hand, commented that Diether should just choose what he thinks is best for him. Kailangan mo rin isipin kung saan ka pupunta or anong gusto mong puntahan. At the end of the day, youre talking about your own happiness.


TV Patrol World tried to get Diethers comment on the issue but all his camp could say was that the actors decision is not final yet and that he hasnt signed any contract outside of ABS-CBN.

Dahil isa na siyang Kapuso, kasama na si Diether sa cast ng pina-kabagong teleserye na sisimulan ng Siyete, ang Pinoy version ng All About Eve. Makakasama niya rito sina Richard Gomez, Sunshine Dizon at Iza Calzado.



Walang project si Diet sa Dos pagkatapos ng Iisa Pa Lamang, kaya ito rin ang isa sa mga da-hilan kung bakit nagdesisyon na siyang lumipat ng network.



Alam ng head ng Star Magic na si Johnny Ma-nahan ang career move na ito ni Diet. In fact, si-ya pa ang kumumbinsi kay Diether na lumipat na. As we all know, si Mr. M ang tumatayong tatay ng talents ng Star Ma-gic. Sampung taon ding naging Kapamilya si Diet. Pero ganyan talaga, each one has to move on, and seek bigger opportunities. If he ever remains as a Kapamilya, the bosses should give him projects. Just like everybody else. They are giving too much of kim and gerald when Diet and Tin has none. Diether Ocampo remains tight-lipped about his rumored transfer to GMA 7. But a Kapuso insider told me that Diet has really made the big switch.

Perhaps he just doesnt want to preempt anything at this point because it was ABS-CBN who made him a star. But theres more to it than loyalty.

Productivity also matters. We all reach a point in our lives where we feel like were stuck in a rut and its time for a career move. Will the grass be greener for Diet on the other side of the fence?

Probably the big switch is for his own good. God is good and I think God is with him. He has shown his loyalty to ABS and ABS did not their part. It is about time for Diet to move on. He had helped a lot of unfotunate kids and God is by h is side. Let us just pray that his transition is wel and hopefully he will be happy and content at the other network. He has a lot of trust in God and he is showing it thro his deeds and words. Let us continually pray for diet whatever he choose to do. Let us just support him.; BECAUSE I AM HIS BIGGEST FAN. I WILL ALWAYS FOLLOW HIM WHEREVER HE GOES. HOPEFULL TIN WILL ALSO DECIDE FOR HER FUTURE.

In answer to the new development, I guess diet had made up his mind. ABS probably started to make noise , i.e. to star on some teleserye in 2009, which we dont know if it will happen, ABS is well known of not fulfilling their promises, when somebody comes along, and think they are good, they forget their actors and actresses who have worked for them for so long. Like they did to Tin,has a project with echo, where, when? we dont know. Noise lang yan para huag lumipat si tin. They do not take of their stars. If I were tin, I will make a move too. NO MORE TFC for more. ABS need to show to us that they will deliver. Whereas, GMA has already given a project and more. One more thing, They lost a good person, who has a heart for less unfortunate kids, that alone, will make ABS looser, because they let go of a good, wholesome, humanitarian, role model for young peoople, and good actor.
