Hi, I've been referred by a friend about docs fastback bodies. He has an orracle body and he's also thinking of upgrading but not so soon. As for me, I want to purchase one now, but I'm not sure. After reading these posts about wrong pump arms, and bad fittings, and long waits for products, I ask myself is it worth it? or should I go get myself an AIM body or a freeflow? I've already inquired doc about the body and I've also made a seperate order for the fastback. It's 5 days, and no reply from doc. So, I would like your input guys. thanks.
I can't say that Doc is good about replying to emails. Chances are though that if you've ordered a body that's in stock it's already in the mail. If you want a "half block" type body, you don't have many choices out there. There is the Turtle, Martin, Racegun Half Block, and the Fastback.
Turtle was having problems before with return times and some quality control (so I've read). I'm not confident that these problems have been addressed. I think Turtle has his credibility shot up a bit over this.
Martin picked up a lot of business where Turtle left off (got my business). But in turn Martin has also had major problems with turnaround. I don't think anybody has gotten a finished product in over 6 months. I've personally been waiting since November 2003 and still waiting.
Racegun Halfblocks. I don't see many people with these. Poor distribution in America? Pricey?
I think I've seen and heard more people getting their fastbacks than above 3 combined, but that's just me. Just don't ask Doc to do anything "custom" to your order and you'll get it fast. I'd rather have a pump arm that's too long than a valve that's messed or a botched anno job or even not seeing my body in over 7 months. Doc is established, you don't have to worry about that.
An AIM or Freeflow body is not a "half block" type body. You have to ask yourself if you really want a "half block". If you don't care, then pick up any after market body kit.

Doc does extrordinary work. But that's the thing. It's just Doc. Guys make mistakes sometimes. You've done it at your job, I've certainly done it at mine and every once in a while Doc makes one. He was at least honest enough to own up to his mistake and do right by everyone affected. That's service and quality you won't get anywhere else in the paintball business.
Go with Doc, you won't be disappointed.

I`ve been waiting since late May, I`ve seen Docs work and for the personal touch that each and every one of his products recieve I`d say they are definately worth the wait. I believe Doc put up a post about how the mix ups happened, remember he is not SP\ DYE\ AKA\ ETC.. He is a talented machinist that makes "CUSTOM" products for guys like you and me and the best part they are made in the U.S.A!!!.....I`m always willing to wait for QUALITY AMERICAN work, I`m a friggin union guy through and through.
I just had to throw this in....THIS IS NOT OVERHAULIN THE TV SHOW!!!!
since I brought that up, I would bet 6 months wages that if you got to walk around and take a good close look at those rides they are slapped together ( yes, they are slapped together by the best in the biz) but build a bad ass ride in 7 days???? If that would become standard, everyone would expect custom paintball markers to have a 24 hour turn around on custom anno..Don`t worry Doc is well respected in the paintball community.
Thanks for the input. If he eventually e-mails me back in time to respond to my questions and order confirmation, I can order the mini-fastback. But yes, quality is a big issue, that is why I can go with the reliability of an AIM body or freeflow body and be assured that when it gets to my door, it's ready to rock. But, I would love to tryout the fastback since I will be getting an e-blade2 b4 next spring. A fastback combined with an eblade2, who knows, maybe it'll start shooting lightning. I know an AIM distributer in my local area and I'm currently making a deal with him for an AIM body. If I can just get a deal going on with DOC, that would be much better. I just want to get my gun ready by the end of August. DOC if you are reading this, I Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks guys,

AIM bodies aren't really considered "high quality". I've heard of a lot of mixed results about them. Not to mention most of their products are complete rip offs of other people's products. For example... Gee wiz, their eXtreme Flat front block screw sure looks a lot like Doc's Flattop.
Doc is always very busy. I ordered my mini fastback 2 weeks ago and got it in 3 days. but he sent me the wrong pump arm but he is payed to get it shipped back to him and hes sending one back to me. but shipping takes a while from alaska to new jersey.
