Where's My Order?

Doc,
Further to my payment by Paypal 07/16/04 and your communication that you were waiting for titanium for pump rods which should arrive the following week and my order then being posted, I am a little worried that my order has not arrived yet.
It has now been over a month since you indicated that my order would be shipped and that you would let me know if there were any problems but I have heard nothing. I have sent you a couple of e-mails to find out if my order was shipped, with whom and if it can be tracked and had no reply.
Please let me know if my order has been dispatched, and whether it can be tracked, to set my mind at ease.
so far i'm $409.30 out of pocket with nothing to show - not even a confirmation that my order has been shipped.

he doesn't reply to emails or post on here cuz he simply does not have the time give the guy a break hes working as fast as he can

Kevin you obviously have not read the start of this thread, when Doc e-mailed me he was only waiting on Ti for pumprods.

Yes i did know that Doc is a one man show before i placed my order and the fact he does outstanding work is why i decided to get a fastback.

I am trying to find out if my order was shipped the week after Docs last e-mail to me as he said it would be, it's got a damn long way to come, it's got to get through customs, and it's got to contend with the Royal mail

I know i can trust Doc to do a 1st class job i am only trying to establish whether it is on the move, still stuck waiting for Ti in Docs workshop or whatever.

However it is just a little annoying that i paid for this then have heard nothing, maybe if i was in Docs position i would do it different maybe not, i'll never know i don't own a milling machine!!

I know that feeling

August 31 2004, 9:17 AM

a week from now It will have been 2 months since Doc took my order, Even though I chose to go via C.O.D. I would think he would have atleast come on this board an leave a message SInce he often leaves messages on his main guildboard. Even though I dont like he has so far done his buisness practice, Eventually I hope he will leave some sort of reasoning why he has neglecting this board quit often.... I hope in the sometime near future he will pop on the board, send a few emails out to the concern customers (especially the ones who has paid up an havent seen anything) to let them know that either he has sent them out or the order still in a work of progress.

Re: Where's My Order?

September 1 2004, 11:33 AM

I have begun to wonder if he isn't witholding my order out of some perverse desire to punish me for asking about it and then criticising his failure to ever communicate back about it.

I ordered a Fastback at the end of May. I never heard from Doc after that. I can't imagine work so good that it would be worth the disrespect. A wait is one thing, but being ignored as soon as you hand over money is simply insulting.

Doc is a one man show, yes, but responding to emails is less work than you think- he only seems to respond to inquiries about future orders and seems to ignore inquires about placed orders, delays, etc. Perhaps he really sees himself as a harrassed polar bear who is misunderstood by his smiley-faced, self centered customers.* If so, we are being unreasonable and cruel by expressing worry or dissatisfactionb at being kept waiting for months.

Someone asked me if I had requested custom work on my Fastback, and I said no. I just remembers, I did; I wanted him to drill for the eye for me. I thought, being a professional, he could do this more quickly and efficiently than me, so why not? If that is the reason my order got delayed, perhaps Doc should hire a machinist to run the drill press and tap kit.

I can only conclude that Doc took my Paypal payment and decided not to send me what I ordered. If he sends it along in a few years (there are people who have been waiting for custom jobs for that long) I will likely have moved. So: lesson learned.

wow

September 2 2004, 11:07 AM

If he can create comics in his spare time, one would think that he would atleast be nice enough to the paid customers to either give them their money back or keep in constant contact with them. That definately would be the decent thing to do... Heck, he does post frequently on the GUildforum than he does here on the ecocker forum... I hope Doc, you are reading this threads an all the other ones in here, an give yourself a moment to think about the lack of actions / communication can do to a unsetteled customer who has sent money to ya via Money Order, or Pay pal... We can be forgiving, but only for so long.

Just my .02 cents worth

Hey i don't want my money back (but i know how you feel) i would just like to know if my order has been shipped and if it can be tracked.

With regards to the fact Doc hasn't posted on here for quite a while i am starting to feel he may have bitten off a little more than he can chew.

If he is heavily burden an have time for that comic strip, I would accept it just as I would accept a post reguarding how busy he is..

I'd call that self deprecating humour.

September 3 2004, 3:05 PM

Doc is clearly bright enough to know a bit about himself. I am somewhat reassured that he realizes that he does keep people waiting for longer than they would like, and that there is some fairness to the complaints. I just wish he kept his customers in the loop on expected delays, or at least sent out a message to let customers know their orders are logged, if it is impossible to accurately forcast time to completion.

Ok so Doc posts this message:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/thread?forumid=286788&messageid=1094603707&lp=1094668977

asking people to e-mail him if they haven't received their bits 'n' bobs, so i do.

So here i am today after thinking that Doc would have set aside time to reply to all these people who are "existing customers" to answer their queries and set their minds at ease....With no reply i still have faith but my friends all think i am an idiot for waiting for this fastback.

You have choices

September 17 2004, 6:17 AM

Bro, you only really have two choices. 1.sit and wait, 2. cancel your order with paypal or credit card and wait for your money. Doc is not going to respond to a I want my money back email either. I was where you are today a month ago. I shot doc an angry email and I have not recieved an email, refund or a frame. It has been six weeks since his last email. I have been waiting over three months. However, I did have the means to order a turtle while I wait for the fastback. The turtle showed up in three days. I have been very happy with the frame. Good Luck

There's a saying

September 27 2004, 7:13 PM

There's a saying that I'm sure Doc lives by when it comes to the way he does business:

Fast, Cheap, Good, You can only have two.

There isn't a single custom shop out there that doesn't have a long wait between when you give them the money and when you get your gear. You should have looked into that and known that you were going to have a wait. Really the only choice you have is to suck it up and wait. After all, Doc doesn't make any deadlines when it comes to when he makes things, you get your stuff when you get it. There's no reason why he'd have to refund you your money. So suck it up and wait.

Spaz, you obviously have not read my first post...

Doc happily took my money on 16/7 and told me he was only waiting for Ti which would take a week, and he'd let me know if there was a problem. since then i have not heard from him.

It has nothing to do with "good, cheap, fast" it has to do with being honest & keeping your word, something Doc is obviously incapable of doing

You need to send this to doc at ordering@docsmachine.com, i would aslo copy it to doc@docsmachine.com but i wouldn't hold your breath.

I dont think Doc even looks at this forum anymore and since a lot of people have been waiting several months for their fastbacks (Myself included paid for four months ago and not heard from doc since he took my money) this forum has become like a ghost town.

All i can do is wait and wish you luck

You could write all that info on a slip of paper, roll it up and slip it in an empty Mt. Dew bottle, throw it out to sea as hard as you can, and wait patiently. You would probably receive as much in the way of confirmation or product as most of us. Atlantic or Pacific is fine, just throw hard!

David, i like your style, i'd like to try that, could you send me a Mt Dew bottle, we don't get it here in the U.K......

I posted on the tinkers guild forum yesterday to try and get a response from Doc or anyone who may know an e-mail for Doc that works...i was ignored, if i didn't want this body so much i would get in contact with the authorities.

But i do have plans if i ever get this thing turn up in the post, so i will wait on.....

(no login)

I saw that post.

November 19 2004, 11:45 AM

I was thinking that when the one year mark rolls around, I would start putting up 1 or 2 posts like that everyday. I am lucky enough to have lots of time on my hands, I feel that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and maybe this is the only way (assuming there is a way).

On the other hand, it would be obnoxious, and it would penalize a lot of guild regulars who have nothing to do with Doc's organizational issues (except for telling him what a swell guy he is while he sits on people's money and ignores their requests for updates).

I know that something is sinking in because Doc frets in public about his reputation, but there are still people who are willing to order stuff. To all those of you who are still considering buying from Doc: DO NOT PRE-PAY! He accepts COD orders, and that is the only sensible way to go. I used Pay Pal and I am out a few hundred bucks for stuff I may never see. Do not get jacked like a fool. I am not saying don't do business with Doc, I am saying get your product before you hand over the green.

Fastback Ordering

November 20 2004, 5:40 AM

Hey guys I know a lot of you have been waiting a long time for the Fastbacks I have a solution. I have a machine company ready to make Fastback clones to help doc out of his long waiting list. They will be $350 with a 2 color fade and would be done in about a month. All I need is a $50 deposit and I will start the ball rolling. I'm good for 2 myself. So if you really want a fastback let me know. Email me at iwantafastback@yahoo.com. There are many other options available also. Let me know guys.

(no login)

I want to believe you.

November 20 2004, 5:13 PM

But I have basically been burned by an otherwise reputable paintball airsmith this year, and my capacity for trust of people I don't know on the interenet is at an all time low.

I would not be in any way willing to give a $50 deposit. I haven't seen the product, I don't know you or your machinist's reputation, This would be a relatively easy way to scam the desperate. I am not saying that is what you are doing, I imagine you are legit, but I won't bet $50 on it.

If you are going to do this, I would be interested, so long as a third party were invloved and so long as I could see a picture first. I know that may not work, but that's where I stand.

Wow I would've thought there was some people who really wanted a fastback I have the means and no takers. I am willing to do this through a third party for the deposit only and I will give you the name of the machine shop doing the work once I have 10 confirmed bodies. Once I give you the name you will know them immediately by reputation.

Re: Where's My Order?

November 20 2004, 10:18 PM

Look, Chris, I would like a Fastback. That's why I ordered one. In fact, I already paid for one. Why withold the name of the airsmith if they have a good rep? That would incline people to be a touch more trusting. I understand a legitimate reason why you ask for a deposit; you don't want to be sitting on 10 of these bodies and no buyers. The cash commitment means people are less likely to opt out. On the other hand, please understand the reluctance some of us feel to send $50 to a guy who says everything is gonna be great. We did that once already, and it hasn't worked out so well.

Thanks for the offer, but right now it seems like you just have a good idea. I think you could find buyers for the other 8 bodies, but not sight unseen, from a mystery machinist, among people who are already out a pile of money in many cases and feeling stung. I mean, who's to say that after we throw in money, we don't wait another 6 months for your machinist to get his act together? What if it is Martin or Turtle? Those guys both make similar stuff and have similarly frustrated customers.

My suggestion is this: buy the bodies if you can afford it. Ano some, leave the others raw. Post them up on Ebay. That would grant more credibility. I would buy one that way, but optioning a piece that doesn't exist yet doesn't appeal.

I would buy one from ebay in a minute!

February 15 2005, 5:04 PM

If you do buy 10 bodies and put them on ebay, they would sell before you even got a chance for you check to clear to the machinist. I would buy one in a heartbeat. I'm seriously looking at buying one of these bodies, but reading about people waiting for their product after they have already spent there money is really making me think twice. If it between risking getting screwed out of 3 bills or continuing to play with my 2k3 body, I'm taking the safer route.

Let me know if you make some bodies, I am definately interested. Also, if you need some capital, I may be willing to invest in this whole thing if the return is looking good.
