Dear Candy,
Dear all,
Thank you all for your comforting advices. I will cherish them.
I have also mailed the owner of this site in her forum for advice and she gave me some good informative tips.
Some of you didnt understand why this FGM ritual of cutting little girls genitals is practised in Africa and also mnay other places in the world. I can speak for the community i come from. Somalia is a strict patriarchal society. Men have dominated all aspects of women's lives, including their sexual movements and enjoyment. FGM (female genital mutilation) begun in Eygpt during the time of the Pharohs. According to many researchers interested in the topic, men ordered women's vaginas to be sealed esp to black slave-women because they enjoyed sex better when the vagina was tight. They had absolutely no consideration for the feelings of the women, they were seen to have none.
The practise soon spread to neighbouring countries. In Somalia mothers do it to their daughters thinking they are doing a good thing for her, they dont consider the medical consequences. The social pressure is too much. Men will not marry an uncut women. They can even divorce her if they discover she is not sealed and doesnt bleed. So barbaric. It is because of men that the practise still goes on.
I will never marry a Somali man. I hate them.
I still havent given up the hope that my vagina can and will one day be fixed.
With God's will, it will.
Aziza
