Subject: Angry White Man

There is a great amount of interest in this year's presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates — a woman and an African-American — while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their party's nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain.

Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord of special-interest groups, ranging from **** lesbian and transgender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians.

There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard.

His common traits are that he isn't looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard.

The victimhood syndrome buzzwords — "disenfranchised," "marginalized" and "voiceless" — don't resonate with him. "Press 'one' for English" is a curse-word to him. He's used to picking up the tab, whether it's the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding.

He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a "living document" open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives.

The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he's willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn't bother him.

The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

His last name and religion don't matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexi can, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.

He's a man's man, the kind of guy who likes to play poker, watch football, hunt white-tailed deer, call turkeys, play golf, spend a few bucks at a strip club once in a blue moon, change his own oil and build things. He coaches baseball, soccer and football teams and doesn't ask for a penny. He's the kind of guy who can put an addition on his house with a couple of friends, drill an oil well, weld a new bumper for his truck, design a factory and publish books. He can fill a train with 100,000 tons of coal and get it to the power plant on time so that you keep the lights on and never know what it took to flip that light switch.

Women either love him or hate him, but they know he's a man, not a dishrag. If they're looking for someone to walk all over, they've got the wrong guy. He stands up straight, opens doors for women and says "Yes, sir" and "No, ma'am."

He might be a Republican and he might be a Democrat; he might be a Libertarian or a Green. He knows that his wife is more emotional than rational, and he guides the family in a rational manner.

He's not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He's willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English.

Most important, the Angry White Man is pissed off. When his job site becomes flooded with illegal workers who don't pay taxes and his wages drop like a stone, he gets righteously angry. When his job gets shipped overseas, and he has to speak to some incomprehensible idiot in India for tech support, he simmers. When Al Sharpton comes on TV, leading so me rally for reparations for slavery or some such nonsense, he bites his tongue and he remembers. When a child gets charged with carrying a concealed weapon for mistakenly bringing a penknife to school, he takes note of who the local idiots are in education and law enforcement.

He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It's not that she is a woman. It's that she is who she is. It's the liberal victim groups she panders to, the "poor me" attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.

There are many millions of Angry White Men. Four million Angry White Men are members of th e National Rifle Association, and all of them will vote against Hillary Clinton, just as the great majority of them voted for George Bush.

He hopes that she will be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, and he will make sure that she gets beaten like a drum.

I could not agree with you more- I don't like CLinton or Obama, but I am tired of the hard working people like ourselves picking up the slack for every illegal and lazy person who comes here with their hands out and expecting us to give them something because "we owe them". When are Americans going to stand up and say enough is enough? When are Americans going to take our country back and make it the prideful place it once was? I am an American (without a hyphen) because I am proud to be here. Thanks for sharing.

That has to be the most intelligent message i have ever read in any kind of forum. The only problem i have is you didn't mention the american trucker, were taking a beating out here since the government deregulated freight prices. The past four presidents didn't do anything for us except create NAFTA, change rules of service, higher road taxes, liability insurance is out of this world etc. I don't know anymore if it does any good to vote. I know it's our own fault for letting it get to this point. Maybe we're disenfranchised!

Why does anyone run is a better question. Why would anyone want their history of spankings in grade school for pulling a little girls hair exposed to the public.The scrutiny of every tiny incident in a lifetime of being human, the picking apart of every mistake ever made used against you. A divorce, a DWI, a speeding ticket brought to the fore and discussed like it was someone elses business, when it really isnt.

Thats just a starter. Now we come to another fine reason why he doesnt run. He probably isnt a millionaire or a politician who has sold his soul to a political party for support.The chance of a poor haberdasher getting to be President in 2008 is slim and none.

This is an awesome message. I am definitely an angry white man, and at 28 I'm really tired of being on the bottom of the list, the back of the line, and the forgotten working man. You really did an amazing job of hitting some of the issues that really do hit home to the angry white man. I am not "African - American" or "Irish-American" or "German -American"....etc. I am happy to be AMERICAN. While many years ago I had ancestors who came to the United states from Ireland, some from England, some were true American indians, and God knows where else my heritage has derived from. If someone is not content with simply being an "American" then why are they in our country? As white men we have no special interest group to stand up for us. When a black man does not get hired because he is not white it is called discrimination. When a white man does not get hired because he is not black it is called affirmative action. If a company in America requires that all employees speak English fluently that is not humane. As a white man I have never applied for welfare but if I did I would not qualify because I work and try to provide for my family. My home is more expensive than my car because my family means more to me than anything. I am not now nor have I ever been racist. I have learned about the tragedies of slavery and all that slaves went through, but I have also learned that their freedom could not have been acheived without the white people that harbored them on their path to freedom or the white soldiers that fought in the government or with the union army. Many white men died for the freedom of a black man. It was the republican party, by the way, that put an end to slavery as well as segregation while the democratic party faught to keep it. Why are these crucial facts never mentioned in any of the lessons that are taught during "Black History Month"? Sadly, racism is very alive today and the only way that it will ever be contained is if we are all held to the same standards. There should be no laws that allow preferential treatment because someone is black, or spanish, or white. Let the man be hired based on quailification and experience and not his race. Will this ever happen in this country again?

I started college in 1999 and searched for scholarships and grants to help me pay for the cost of college. I was not the top of my high school class and after much searching I learned very quickly that because I was an average white guy I did not qualify for most scholarships and grants. At the end of my freshman semester of college in 1999 I was in a tragic car accident. I had brain surgery on Thanksgiving Day of 1999 and have had to adapt to many things in my life as a disabled American. I am back in school now attempting to get the degree that brainsurgeons thought I would never be able to achieve. When I began to research scholarships and grants for people with disabilities I quickly realized that I still do not qualify for most of them because I am not a "minority" with a disability. There is no historic white universities, and no Miss White America contest, or a White Entertainment Channel. There is no White History Month and there is no punishment for racial slurs thrown to white children in the public school system. The white man is truly the most discriminated against in America and if he is a christian it only gets worse.

Our country relies on a British man to decide who the "American Idol" will be, a gay man to tell a woman "How to look good Naked", and now the democtatic party hopes to put a muslim-or christian-or whatever he changes his mind to be, in the White House as the leader of the free world. America was great when a man was a man and there was no sugery to make him a woman because he claims that God made a mistake and trapped his female soul in a man's body. America was great when people who decided to have sex were required to fully accept the consequences when a child was conceived because abortion could not happen. America was great when prison was actually a punishment rather than summercamp for criminals to browse the internet, escape from their financial obligations, and plan their next crime because they will be up for parole in a week. Will we ever stand up for America again? As I see it the Bible is simply fulfilling it's prophesy. There are many things that were designed for good but because they have been abused or misinterpreted these progams are destroying America. Give welfare only to senior citizens who have worked as part of the American society (legally as American citizens) all of their lives, to soldiers who have faught in a war for the U.S. and been disabled, or for disabled Americans who truly cannot work. Currently welfare is given to anyone who choses not to work. If a welfare recipient wants to recieve more money they simply have another child. If we compare the demographic breakdown of every prison, orphanage/or shelter for abused children, and welfare recipients in this country then you will find that the white man is the lowest on that list as well. It is the hard working, angry white man that is paying the tab for the minorities to have internet and play time in prison while they actually get paid for the small amount of work they do while in prison. It is the hard working, angry white man that pays for the children that minorities abuse and/or neglect who end up in the states custody. It is the hard working angry white man that pays for minority wellfare while many of the welfare recipients drive nicer cars than the hard working, Angry white man that pays his/her bills.

Thanks again for such a great message. I am usually a peace keeper. I volunteer at a shelter for children who have been placed in the states custody because of neglect and/or abuse. For the 14 years that I have been volunteering at that shelter I have also worked for a summercamp where the department of Social Services sends the kids in their custody for a week during the summer. There are very few white children in these groups. On average 1/20 is the white to black ratio. In the positions that I have held and the people that I have worked with I have never been able to vent. Of coarse these issues make me very angry. The fact that we pay anyone to neglect their kids and buy a new car with welfare money makes me want to explode. Like most white Americans I generally keep this to myself. Otherwise I would be fired and there would be no welfare for me.
I might have went pretty far off of the original point of your Angry White Man post but I had to use this opportunity to get the facts off of my chest for change. At this rate the social security taxes that I pay now will not be available for me when I retire. Somehow we have to stand against all that is wrong in this country before it is too late.

Your angry because your prejudice and scared. Although It will soon be over for you in a few decades when the Mexican majority will dictate how affairs will be conducted in this country. So knowing that, why are you haters worried about a blackman becoming president? You guys are equally disturbing as the arab radicals on the other side of the planet. You disgust me and the majority of the citizens of Portland Oregon.

We do need McCain for the pure fact that he is qualified!! We can not go into depression and that would happen with Obama taxing anyone!! We must finish what we started with the war or we will just have to go back again!! Obama will spend as crazy as he has been this whole race-no modesty there! Obama believes that women have the right to abort babies at any months! Obama will spend everyones retirement if voted for. Tell everyone that McCain would die for this country to protect the American people!!
