that a viable population of animals only needs somewhere around 650 mated pairs to remain genetically viable enough to survive (I believe it was an article on African Cheetahs in which I saw this related)...So, if my memory serves me correctly (and it may very well not be-but I think it is) Bigfoot (like any other animal out there) wouldn't need HUGE numbers as You've suggested...
