I dont know if you are talking about me or not but I'll assume that you are as my response was for the most part counter to the original posters point of view.
Let me attempt to explain why my point of view is not 100% inline with what you think is the correct course of action.
First off I fully agree and accept that for science to identify this being a specimen must be collected. Some will say this must be done to "save it" but I dont really think I believe that as they have seemed to survive up until now just fine without any "saving".
Anyway I do not dispute that one or more likely a few specimens need to be taken. I just do not want to be involved in that effort as it is counter to my goals.
I started this "hobby" because I wanted to see one. I do not want fame or money and I have no need to feel "important". I have been asked to speak at conferences and to be interviewed for documentary films and Television. I have always declined these offers. Im just not that kind of guy. For me this is not a business or an ego trip.
You mentioned a "social club" and that is not what I set out to establish but meeting people who look at this creature in the same way that I do has been enjoyable. So in fairness maybe this "hobby" of mine has spawned a sort of social club and I do not think that is a bad thing. It does bring me into contact with like minded people who will share with me their experiences and include me when they have something to investigate. That is NOT counter to my goals.
What are my goals? I want to know as much about this being we call Sasquatch first hand as I possibly can. I do not want to just read about it in books I want to know it by being there and looking it in the eyes.
I can not do that if my partner is crawling thru the bush trying to shoot one every time we get close to it.
I offer no fuzzy photos and while you may question my credibility I have NEVER claimed to be trying to prove they exist (I know they exist) nor have I ever made up any "looney ideas" for anyone to prove or disprove.
As I have said before. If you dont believe, it makes no difference to me. Im not in this for you. Im in this for me and I know what I have seen and experienced and it only makes me want to know more.
