I was reading a recent issue of Maxim Magazine and they had a section called "Teetering on the Edge" where they had numerous stories of peril and challenge. In one story called "The Long Escape" it talked about some prisoners of war who escaped from a prison camp in Siberia and Walked to India, folks, thats over 4000 miles and that includes a section of the Himalayas. What caught my eye was this exerpt from the book "The Long Walk by Slavomir Rawicz.
Quote: Still, the survivors continued, searching out routes through the Himalayas known only to a few shepherds and smugglers. Once, in the high altitude of the mountains, they came accross two creatures that they first took to be Bears. "They could not have been less than eight feet tall," Slav later remembered in his account of the journey, The Long Walk. "They walked on their hind legs and the heads were squarish....The shoulders sloped down to a powerful chest. The arms were long, and the wrists reached the level of the knees....The color was a rusty brown." Mr. Smith advised retreat from the mysterious creatures, which some writers and researchers contend were legendary Yetis."It's obvious that They're not afraid of us," said Smith, keeping his voice calm. "I thinkg we had better go while we're safe. I know this was lengthy but it was nice to read this in a magazine that has no connection with any paranormal or local Bigfoot research groups. It was neat that through the whole twelve month journey that they decided to focus on this particular incident. I hope you enjoy this bit and I plan on getting this book to read the whole story. Have a good day........Max
